Author Gayle Forman rued the fact that her visit to St. Louis County Library coincided with the first presidential debate. She was here to discuss “Leave Me,” her newest book. Both she and the evening’s host, KMOX Radio host Debbie Monterrey, promised the audience that they would be finished before the big event was scheduled to start.

“Leave Me” is an adult novel, though Forman is best known for “If I Stay,” which is in the Young Adult genre. She explained that the difference is subtle, and only recently has a clear distinction been made.  For example, “The Catcher in the Rye” is a classic which, if written today, would be categorized as  a YA novel.
Forman read an excerpt from the new book, took questions, signed copies and talked to her fans. And she delivered on her promise.
