The forgetful blessed ones

In Luke 17:11-19, Jesus heals ten lepers, and only one returns to give Him thanks. I wonder how many times we have eagerly taken blessings from God, only to continue happily on our way and forget to express our gratitude and praise the One who tenderly watches over us?

Let’s pause today and ask God to help us recall all the many tokens of His love toward us, and recognize them for what they are: the soft touch of His caress on our cheek, the warmth of His arms around us, that He covers us with until the day that He wipes all tears from our eyes. When through His grace we remember those signs of His love, let’s express our overflowing gratefulness to Him in words of praise, and acts of service to others.

“It seems so sad that we praise God so little. Gratitude, praise, and thanksgiving need now to be searched for, and cultivated as lost arts. They are more precious to the Lord Jesus than all the treasures of gold and silver which the earth contains. Every human being should appreciate the kindness and love wherewith God has loved us. When we were yet enemies, Christ gave His life that we might be saved. How much have we appreciated this gift?”
