Self-driving cars coming soon from Toyota
You’ve seen them everywhere – anime, TV, movies, books…but you haven’t seen them in reality. Well, the fictional aspect of autonomous vehicles might soon change thanks to a partnership between Toyota and Nvida. This partnership is a huge step toward self-driving cars, and Toyota of Clermont is here to tell you how they’ll do it!
Nvidia’s Tools. At the heart of Nvidia’s interest for self-driving cars is their DRIVE PX2 processor. This platform is quickening the pace on the production of self-driving vehicles. These processors can vary in size, and utilizes features such as DriveWorks and end-to-end HD mapping. This ensures an autonomous car using the PX2 has proper-working sensors, can understand the scenes around them and adapt, in addition to updating maps in a timely manner. This makes it so whoever is riding can get from Point A to Point B safely and efficiently.
Toyota’s Goals. Toyota plans to bring self-driving tech to its consumers by 2020. This would be a perfect time to promote this feature since all eyes will be on Japan for the 2020 Summer Olympics. Toyota not only wants to create fully autonomous vehicles, but they understand that having one that can switch back to user-controlled driving is important. The fact that Toyota wants to make self-driving vehicles available to the public sets them apart from other automakers interested in the same technology.
While self-driving cars aren’t available to the public (Yet!), Toyota of Clermont has plenty of new and high-tech vehicles available to look at and find more information about. Visit us just off the Florida Turnpike at 16851 State Road 50 for learn more about our new Toyota models.
