Prevent Car Theft!
There may be times where you find yourself in a sketchy part of town, or having to stay late in the office. Unfortunately, leaving a vehicle unattended for too long is a dangerous thing to do. It could even result in a car break-in or car theft! Toyota of Clermont has put together a list of things you can do to lower your chance of becoming a victim of one of these crimes.
Tip #1: Lock your door – This is such a simple step to take, but it is generally one of the most effective. A tactic of car thieves is to check doors to see if they are unlocked. If they notice yours is locked, they might move on and not even bother.
Tip #2: Remove visible electronics – One of the biggest targets for car thieves are electronics. Avoid this by removing any electronics from sight. You can do that by taking any mobile devices like a cell phone or camera with you to wherever you are going. If you can’t do that, be sure to keep them covered by hiding them in a trunk or putting them in the glove compartment or under the seat. Don’t worry about that included Toyota technology! Most thieves look for stuff that would be easy to remove.
Tip #3: Park in a well-lit area – If you’re parking at night, or know you will be in that location past dusk, be sure to park somewhere that will be well-lit. Thieves tend to avoid these spots because someone could come by and see exactly what they are doing thanks to the increased visibility.
