Statue of Elephant Hanako
A bronze statue of Hanako was unveiled last Friday in front of Kichijoji Station, Tokyo, Japan.
The statue was inspired by an Asian elephant, Hanako, which was resided at Inokashira Park Zoo in Kichijoji since 1954 and died in May last year, aged 69. Hanako was sent to Japan from Thailand as a gift of friendship.
The statue stands 1.5 meters high, 2.5 meters long and 80 centimeters wide. It weighs about 650 kilograms. The cost (13.6 million yen) was covered with donations including from Thailand. We joined this project and created the statue. When you have a chance to see the statue, please pay attention to the detailed and its colour. We made the bronze statue using a variety of skills and network of metal art industry in Takaoka-shi.
In addition to this project, we often collaborate with other people and always welcome new connections. If you are interested in talking about your idea or project, we are all ears. Let us know if you have any questions or would like to talk about your project.
