Q:
Hey John! Here's a question I've had for quite a long time: So back in the late 80's New York Magazine published a story that claims that you and Linnell attempted legal action against "Crazy Eddie" for apparently stealing parts of the songs "Mister Me" and "Absolutely Bill's Mood." Do you remember anything about this? If so, could you explain more about what had happened? Thank you!
JF: It was a curious episode. Crazy Eddie basically lifted the “I’m Insane” like for their own purposes (”He’s insane”-get it?) While we had a very effective lawyer, it seemed like simply making the public aware that it was lifted from a local band without acknowledgment or compensation was all it took to make the campaign disappear instantly. While it was hardly a secret that Crazy Eddie was kind of a cheap organization, it still seems like a remarkably brazen move.
