I find it very interesting, from a character based standpoint, that Robert has been quite vocal and expressive to Aaron about his feeling for him. Aaron, on the other hand, has not. it took him 18 months to say “I love you” again. Robert has told Aaron directly that no one comes close, has said all he needs his right here, etc. Aaron hasn’t. Robert hadn’t heard any words of love from Aaron in 18 months, however, it’s Aaron that’s insecure and not Robert. Robert is VERY secure in Aaron’s feelings for him.
I find this fascinating. The person who is constantly told they are loved, needed and wanted is the person that is insecure and the person that doesn’t receive any words of love and need, knows it with a certainty.
They both have a history of feeling unwanted and feeling abandoned by parents they counted on. Both struggling with who they truly were. Yet, they both handle their pasts VERY differently.
Anyway, I’m rambling, but just wanted to share these thoughts that popped in my head when I saw this GIF set.
A: “but you’ve got Chrissie”
R: “she’s not enough”

i JUST remembered this scene. now i wonder if this is something that is ALWAYS in the back of Aaron’s mind. Robert saying that just having Chrissie wasn’t enough. is that why Aaron is always worried that he’s not enough for Robert? that small little comment is probably stuck in the back of his mind at all times.
Robert has changed and Aaron IS enough for him, but with Aaron’s insecurities, the memory of that conversation still plagues him.
