Screenwriter Rachel Koller was thrilled to learn her script, The Big D — a raunchy female-centric buddy comedy about a young woman’s divorce — was selected as one of 375 in an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ screenplay competition.
She was less excited when she got this comment on it:
She took to the competition’s Facebook and wrote: "While I happily accept notes both good and bad on my work, this reader’s notes … seemed wildly inappropriate, offensive and sexist to say the least.
They then came back with:
Defending the comment as a joke does not an apology make. Finally, the Academy had to step in and issue the apology she should have received in the first place.
