S.H.I.E.L.D was gone. All you ever believed in and worked for was gone within days. You were there when S.H.I.E.L.D was founded almost 70 years ago and you where there when it got destroyed by the ones you thought of as dead. Hydra was back, no, they were never gone. They had grown and spread in the underground and no one had noticed.

Fury had sent you on a mission to Russian shortly before things got serious. When Steve called u and told you what was going on, you tried to get there as soon as possible. The Russians kept you as a hostage, which of course was part of your plan, but getting out sooner than you had planned wasn‘t that easy. When you finally got back to Washington D.C. it was almost too late. You just saw the helicarriers burst into flames and crash into each other in the sky when you made your way to the S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters.

When you saw someone falling from one of the carriers, your heart stopped. It was Steve, you could make him out by the dark blue uniform. Shortly after him, a second person fell down but you didn‘t know who it was. You were already a really fast runner but you probably never have been that fast ever before. After a good kilometer you finally got to the lake in which Steve and the unknown person must have landed in. You searched the surface for any signs of him when suddenly a man who was dressed completely in black stepped out of the water, dragging Steve on his collar after him.

That must be him. The Winter Soldier. You had heard about him for decades now, but you always thought he was just made up. His face was covered with his long, wet, dark hair and he hadn‘t noticed you yet. Steve was unconscious or worse, so u didn‘t care about staying undercover. You ran towards them and when you were only a few meters away the Soldier looked up with an ice cold expression and let go of Steves collar.

That coudn‘t be. Your heart skipped a beat and you had to step back to prevent yourself from falling to your knees.

“J-James?“

It was barely a whisper but the man heard you. He furrowed his eyebrows at you, but he seemed like he was trying to remember a dream. Like he knew something deep inside him but couldn‘t remember it.

“What is it with all those names? First Bucky, now James. You don‘t know me.“

He turned around and disappeared behind the trees. It was just like the first time you met him, you were in shock, couldn‘t move, couldn‘t speak. It simply wasn‘t possible. He had to be dead, either killed in war or he had just forgot about you and died when he got old. But he hadn‘t aged a day and neither had you. How was that possible. Your head wanted to explode when you remembered what else he had said. Bucky. Someone called him Bucky and you had heard that name before. Bucky was Steves best friend 70 years ago. He died. Your whole body was trembling. Could it really be that James was Bucky and that he became the Winter Soldier? Your head hurt from thinking and you just made a few steps closer to Steves unconscious body and broke down on him.

You needed answers as soon as possible but most important - you had to find HIM.
