Gunpei Yokoi’s tombstone ⊟

I’m mentioned the idea of visiting Gunpei Yokoi’s grave in Japan to pay respects to the inventor (Bit Shifter’s idea, actually), and it looks like Mitsuhuri did just that, sharing this photo of his headstone.

Normally sharing a photo of someone’s tombstone would be rude, but the marker lists a number of Yokoi’s immense contributions to Nintendo – the list includes the Ultra Machine, Laser Clay, Ten Billion Barrel, Game & Watch, and Game Boy. He gave us the D-pad and the Virtual Boy, and produced landmark games like Kid Icarus and Metroid too. The gravestone also features a cute bit of art that looks like something out of a Game & Watch game.

And check out the nearby Triforce/three scales symbol, a common sight at family graves in Japan. Credit to Heidi Kemps for the link!
