What’s next for Graduate Pikachu ⊟
Arts and Sciences, huh? What are you planning to do with a degree in the Pokemanities? “Pi… kachu.” Right, like you haven’t thought about that. Like you don’t think about that all the time. The question would be insulting if you had a better answer for it. This field is what you’re good at, and so this field is where you’ve studied. Nights spent writing research papers you barely understand, wondering if you have the dedication to really make it.
Yeah, I guess there is graduate school, and from there teaching? A postdoc? And then the first job you can find in the first university that will take you, anywhere in the world – you could have to move to Hoenn next year, you don’t know. That kind of life can be exciting, though. It can, yeah, also be intimidating to be instantly plugged into a new ecosystem of geniuses.
Maybe a new field? You do have a lot of research experience from this degree program that you could apply to a Master’s in another field. As an Electric-type Pokemon, you might have some aptitude for engineering? Oh, not great with numbers? Yeah…
Or maybe just abandon academia altogether and find a way to pursue your secret dream, the one you’ll never tell anyone about seriously until it’s almost real: shooting lightning at a bug in the grass.
Wherever you’re going, even if you don’t know… you’re a lot closer today, Pikachu. And there are no papers to read, no papers to grade, no grant applications to write. Congratulations!
