Preorder Flashback collector’s edition for Switch ⊟
I have too many memories tied to Flashback to resist this 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, so many years looking back at the “cinematic platformer” wishing I could experience something like it again. Never mind that I rented it for Genesis so this faux SNES cartridge does little for me, or that I find the numbered metal card meaningless and wasteful, or that my interest in the game wanes after the Death Tower segment – I still fuck with this heavy.
The Switch game’s Modern mode adds “post-FX graphic filters, completely remastered sound and music, a brand new ‘Rewind’ function adjustable according to the level of difficulty, [and] tutorials for those who need a boost.”
Amazon listed this Collector’s Edition for a June 12 release in the U.S., pricing preorders at $39.99, which seems appropriate – even for the re-release of a 25-year-old game – with all the tchotchkes publisher Microids is throwing in.
