An entrepreneur and financial executive with a background in wealth management and investment banking, Dirk Coetzer currently splits his time between responsibilities as head of ICON Capital Sarl and Firminy Capital Sarl, diversified investment firms registered in Luxembourg.

Raised in South Africa, Mr. Coetzer graduated from Patriot High School in Witbank before joining the South African Military Health Service’s 7 Medical Battalion Group. Completing his year of compulsory national service, Dirk Coetzer subsequently enrolled at Technikon Pretoria (now part of Tshwane University of Technology), where he spent the next two-and-a-half years studying Behavioral Psychology, Marketing, and Financial Management programs. Following receipt of his Diploma in Marketing and Financial Management in 1995, Mr. Coetzer embarked on a multifaceted career as an investment manager, working for companies in North America, Europe, Africa, and elsewhere.

Beginning with successful terms at Southern Asset Management and Long View Investments in New York, Dirk Coetzer moved into the world of Structured Finance at Belgium’s Omni Comers and AINCI (Pty) Ltd. From there, he spent a year as a Financial Officer with the Royal Group of Companies in Egypt before commencing a seven-year tenure with Financial Acceptances & Securities (BVI) Inc.

Following his time with Financial Acceptances & Securities, Dirk Coetzer founded Firminy Capital Sarl and ICON Capital Sarl, through which he manages the Firminy Equity Fund FT and ICON Investments Fund FT, respectively.
