I have so far in life avoided knowing a damn thing about Jane Eyre, and so I don’t know how it ends, and as the ebook I have is a just-about-formatted Complete Works Of The Bronte Sisters I also don’t know how much more of it there is…
Does anyone have any tips for dealing with the frustration of being unable to punch every single male character in this fucking book?
I mean, I realise that the unremitting awfulness of victorian men may in fact be the point, but it’s still frustrating as all hell!
Argh!
Anyway, once I get through this I plan on reading Wuthering Heights next. That’ll cheer me up, right?
Please give yourself a break before Wuthering Heights. There isn’t a single likeable character in Wuthering Heights. Some people enjoy it anyway - something something passionate love, great character studies - but you will want to punch absolutely everyone, even the women.
