My 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Review (Recorded Video) - Part 5 [Dec 8, 2020]
Here’s the Part 5 of my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Gamepad; w/ my wireless adapter / retro receiver of the same brand (8bitdo USB Wireless Adapter ‘PS Classic Edition’) .🎮🙂
In today’s part, I have another recorded video of testing out the D-Input mode with my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Gamepad connecting my retro receiver on my Windows 10 PC.😊🎮📶🖥️
If you haven’t seen or watch my “Part 4″ post, then please [CLICK ME!].
*But before that, I want YOU… Yes you, which you’re reading my description. I want you to watch my recorded video first 📹📲 (as a observation) before you read the rest of my reaction experience. Hope you’re watching…
So without further ado, let’s get started:
My Experience:
• (Now as you already done watching video.) Once again I’m about to attempt a same procedures as before, this time by pressing “start” and “B” button at the same time to access “D-Input” mode, and you may notice that indicates a one single led light. And yes, don’t forget to press sync / pairing button for 3 seconds before it connects successful to my retro receiver. Once done the connection process, I’m now ready to test out some controls in “D-Input” mode using Gamepad Tester [CLICK ME!].🎮🖥️
• As I went to the Gamepad Tester, I noticed it did not say a “Generic controller” or simply “Gamepad” for “D-Input” mode, but rather a “Xbox 360 Controller (XInput STANDARD GAMEPAD)”, which is the same mode as “X-Input” mode in my previous part. It’s pretty odd, considering that the “D-Input” mode supports not only for Android devices but also Windows OS as well, in reality. But I guess I’d did a experiment of sorts.😕
•Nonetheless the control functions are all present, with no changes and when I played all game emulators I have, it performs the same as “X-Input” mode. Although there is noticeable in “D-Input” mode. You see when I played GTA V online, at the 🏁Open World Races 🏎️ start up, I noticed that there’s no analog travel distance on the trigger buttons when try I go slowly throttle, and if that wasn’t enough the vibration motors was very low when I either hit through the wall or went through grass field, compare to high vibration in “X-Input” mode. Different-wise, I even try the same method when I ride a bike and it full throttle rev than the slow rev throttle in the opposite mode side, not to mention I can aim and shoot in a soft button travel. And if that wasn’t different enough, I noticed that the analog sticks had bit slightly yet very response compare to the “X-Input”, but otherwise it kind a performs the same. Heck I even try that in the standalone GTA San Andreas and it performs the same overall, well sorta.
•Now before I proceed to overall thoughts, I want to share my struggle experience using between my 8bitdo retro receiver and SN30 Pro+ gamepad connecting through my Windows 10 PC.😟 When I revert to “X-Input” mode, it did not registered from my 8bitdo gamepad through ePSXe (PlayStation 1) and PPSSPP (PlayStation Portable) emulators. So I have to restart my computer in order to function my gamepad and also my retro receiver, and it did. But what if I want to change to “D-Input” mode once again without restarting my computer… Well this is the part where I getting confuse and struggle.😖 After a frustrating back ‘n fort between two modes and also reading the SN30 Pro+’s instruction manual on how to reconnect between two modes, I think It’s say to say that I’m totally get it right now (,sort of), until the single led light (on the other side) appears by blinking red, which means it’s low battery from the proprietary battery pack.🔋⬇️🔴 As for the interchange quick modes for my SN30 Pro+ gamepad like I did to my DualShock 4 V2 controller, well suffice it to say it did not. Because I have to press the sync/pairing button from my 8bitdo retro receiver first and then I perform two buttons either in X or D-Input mode and vice versa from my SN30 Pro+ gamepad and press sync/pairing button in 3 seconds (the four led lights doing a back ‘n fort), before it connects perfectly. So needless to say it doesn’t have that quick mode feature for my SN30 Pro+ gamepad, compare to my DualShock 4 controller. But despite that, I think this is acceptable for me. And by the end of my struggle I decided to choose “X-Input” over “D-Input” mode.😌 I guess I have to play 8bitdo’s modes or something, so who knows.🙂
•Uh yeah I forgot to mention, the “D-Input” mode had a quick response connection with just a single “start” button (that act as power on and off button) from my SN30 Pro+ gamepad than the “X-Input” mode that requires twice, which is better but I still prefer “X-Input” because it’s acceptable to my Windows 10 PC, so I have to sacrifice for that. <=]
Overall:
• Switching to “D-Input” mode for my SN30 Pro+ gamepad was okay, but a bit confuse in terms of labeling. The buttons response was actually the same as “X-Input”, albeit in the different feeling for both triggers and analog buttons. But at least it functions well without any issues. However the vibration motors was on the low side than the opposite in “X-Input”. As I said before I decided to chose “X-Input” over “D-Input” for my Windows 10 PC, because the D is only for android devices and hopefully I will try that on my Honor 8C smartphone 📲 someday. Although I don’t have any game apps on my smartphone yet, so I’ll think about it.🙂
•Now that my “D-Input” testing moment is over, I want to try wired mode in the next part. Will it be remain as “Xbox 360 gamepad” or anything else? We will see then in very soon.😊

Testing out in D-input mode sure is tricky for my P-Pal to get through, but at the end, Glad to know about he’ll stick...
