The War
Memories from Pearl and Lapis
Anonymous asked
OMG your post about slowly putting the story of SU together bit by bit. I just realised the flash at the end of lapis's flashback was blue, white and yellow. As if a beam was shot from homeworld, Did u meant that rose used her shield to stop that ?
I’m honestly wondering if the Diamonds got together to do something, by their powers combined. But yeah! The beam was shot by Homeworld Gems, probably trying to destroy every single Gem on Earth.
And given what Greg said about if it weren’t for Rose’s shield, I’m pretty sure Rose’s shield saved the handful of Crystal Gems, and whatever else she could. In fact, have a fun image from reddit!
Spoilers.
oh shit wait
Lapis already had ‘mirror’ powers, the power to show history.
She really likely has to also be a rather rare, high-class gem, like Sapphire. Same blue color palettes, same blue diamond on her dress, same ‘vision’ powers.
They don’t just put gems in mirrors to access memories, probably - they choose a mirror specifically to use Lapis Lazuli’s powers.
The same gems, the same court - Blue Diamond’s? Or another Diamond’s?
When did the other Diamonds started to get involved with the war? How big was it, how much effort, how much energy did Homeworld expanded on it?
Disclaimer: I’m not a geologist, my chemistry is basic level, this is only me summarizing the little research I did.
Also, long post.
Got a feeling Pearl meet Rose Quartz by being in the same manner of recklessness as she was in this ep.
Ok, so a major theme in Steven Universe is romantic love. There’s Garnet, the manifestation of love - in midst of a relationship. There’s Pearl, who loved and still loves Rose Quartz - a past relationship .
What if for Amethyst, her story is one of the beginning a relationship?

Hiya!
2. Who is your favorite gem?
Definitely Peridot! I always like the smart, nerd character type, and she was that plus cool design. Then ever since she joined the team, she’s the one info-dumping about Homeworld, even now after her incredible switch to being a Crystal Gem.
3. What is your favorite episode?
‘It Could Have Been Great’. Gem history, a moon base, Peridot being Peridot, the climax - it was a wonderful episode.
6. What’s your favorite ship?
I don’t know if anyone’s noticed…but it’s Amedot.
7. Have any gemsonas?
I don’t! Mostly because I can’t decide what gem I want to be. But I want to say that if I were a Gem, I would probably fit snuggly in the role filled by Peridots.
Steven and Amethyst get into some gem gossip from Peridot while looking for parts for the drill over at the Kindergarten but Peridot’s big mouth gets her in trouble again, this time, creating friction between her and Amethyst. “Too Far” premiered on this day, 8 Years Ago.
