Yelling
*Requested: Y/N and Newt get into a ‘fight’ and Newt loses his chill and yells hardcore at her. She gets scared and can’t help herself and cries, and Newt sees this and realizes what he has done.*
Newt was lecturing you again. You crossed your arms and looked at your boyfriend, not understanding why he was so upset. It wasn’t a big deal that you didn’t finish tying all the vines, but Newt thought it was the most important thing at the moment.
“You have a job, Y/N. No matter how much I love you, you have to do the job or else we’ll throw off the balance in the Glade and the whole system will fall apart. You know the number one rule. Each Glader has a part and you have to follow that rule.” he said seriously and you just looked at him.
“Y/N.” he said, making sure you were listening.
“So I’ll finish tying them while the rest of you go ahead and eat. I’ll be done quickly.” you said and walked towards the vines on the ground. Newt grabbed your arm and you saw a look in his eyes that you had never seen before. Your stomach dropped out of fear and your mouth went dry.
“I don’t think you understand.” he growled and you felt the strength go out of your legs. His hand was still gripping your arm and you just looked at it. Your breathing was becoming heavier.
“I don’t know what you mean by that.” you said and knew your voice was shaking. You didn’t know why you were so scared; Newt had never hurt you before. But there was something inside of you, growing.
“I’m trying to get out of this shuck place. I don’t know about the rest of the people here, but this place makes me sick. The people who put us here make me sick!” he yelled and you could see in the way his mouth moved and the way his forehead crinkled that he was REALLY angry.
“I tried to kill myself in there, Y/N!” he motioned towards the Maze. “I’m not about to sit here and watch as a bunch of lazy people slack off and do all the klunk they want and then get away with it! I’m not about to spend the rest of my life here! I can’t let you do that to me and I don’t care if you want to stay here or you like it here or what!” he shouted and you felt his breath on your face with every word he yelled at you. You could see some Gladers had gathered around and were watching Newt yell at you.
You were frozen. That’s the thing about true fear; it leaves you immobile. You hated the place just as much as Newt did. You didn’t tell him about the late nights you spent crying and wishing you were somewhere else, the days you wish you could just close your eyes and never wake up again; but you woke up every morning with a smile on your face because you knew that the boys needed it. You knew that you were trapped here probably against your will. Everyone probably was. But you weren’t going to let that ruin your life.
But Newt didn’t know. He thought you were just shucking around and being a slinthead with the other Gladers and you didn’t care. He thought you were being lazy when really, you just didn’t want to have to think about the situation you were in.
Thoughts were running in your head and you couldn’t breathe all of a sudden. Correction, you were breathing but something was wrong. You were inhaling a lot of air but exhaling almost none of it.
“Y/N?” you heard but couldn’t move or speak. All you were doing was freaking out and inhaling more than you could exhale. You felt arms grab you and you snapped out of the trance you were in while staring at Newt’s angry face and walked away.
You felt tears pour out as Chuck sat you down and handed you a glass of water. It soon turned to sobbing and you clenched the glass so hard you heard it crack. You looked at Chuck and your breathing returned to normalcy.
“What’s wrong?” Chuck asked as if he hadn’t just seen or heard any of what Newt said.
“I don’t like it here, Chuck. I like hanging out with you and the boys and Newt, but I hate it here so much. And I never tell anyone because I don’t want them to lose hope, and I want them to be happy and forget about the fact that we’re stuck here and that it makes them sad and helpless. Newt thinks I don’t care, but Chuck, oh Chuck, I care so much.” you said, your body shaking from the violent sobbing and Chuck sat there and rubbed your back for you. You felt ashamed of not being able to tell Newt and you wished no one had seen him yell at you like that.
Your back suddenly felt cold and you heard Chuck stand up and walk away. You looked up in confusion and saw Newt standing a few feet in front of you. His hard look had softened and normally you would smile, or chirp a “hello” or act like everything was okay, but this time, you didn’t care. You sat there and felt the tears still coming out of the corners of your eyes and you let them spill out. He had never seen you like this but you didn’t care.
“Y/N…” he said gently but didn’t move for fear of scaring you again.
You didn’t answer him but just looked at him. You wished he would just understand that you weren’t here to just have fun.
“Y/N.” he said again and you just stared at him, again.
“Don’t.” you said and watched as he stood there, frozen like you had been before, and struggled to find the right words. He walked slowly over and sat in a chair next to you and you just stared at the empty space that now filled where he was standing before.
“I didn’t mean to scare you. I heard what you said to Chuck. And I’m sorry. I don’t know what to do or say to make this better but I just want you to know I’m sorry.” he said and took your smaller hand in his bigger one, rubbing your hand with his thumb.
“I’m not here to mess around and stay forever. I want to get out of here just as much as you do.” you said and looked over at Newt, finally. You could tell he was upset, but not the same kind of upset as before.
“I know that now. I just get scared. Scared that something awful is going to happen or we won’t get out. I was so unsure that I became blind to what’s important.” he said and you looked at him intently.
“I don’t want to hurt you.” he said and pulled you in for a hug. You gladly hugged him back and felt the tears drying on your face, your skin tightening.
“I love you.” you mumbled and he kissed your lips, salty from the tears you had cried.
“I think I love you more.” he said.
Don’t Leave
*Requested: Y/N and Newt had been dating since the Glade, and make it through the trials to Paradise, but Newt finds interest in another girl from Group B.* (sorry it’s short but idk how to make sad imagines lol xx)
You and Newt were running through the Maze for the second time. This time, you were more skeptical. Getting out of the Maze, you had had high expectations for the real world, but meeting Group B and having to come back to the Maze, it was all different from what you had expected.
“Do you think it’s real, this paradise thing?” you asked as you, Newt, and a girl from Group B ran towards the exit.
“I don’t know what to expect from WCKD anymore.” Newt coldly said and you weren’t sure if the coldness was aimed at you or the enemy. The girl from Group B put her hand on Newt’s shoulder and he looked at her with a warm smile. Your stomach dropped slightly but you kept running.
You and Newt had started dating two months after your arrival in the Glade. You had been inseparable since, but once you were out in the Scorch, something had changed about him. You had begun to think that maybe he wasn’t in love with you, you just conveniently happened to be the only female Glader and you were a pleasure source. But you had confidence that once you reached Paradise, things would calm down and you and Newt could go back to the way it was.
Thomas led the way to the Flat Trans, and you stared at the thin silver rectangle in front of you.
“This is it.” you said to Newt, his side profile showing his intense concentration. He didn’t respond, he just stared into the silver rectangle. You glanced over at the girl from Group B, and you saw the way she looked at Newt; the way you did. You saw her fingers touch his lightly before they boldly intertwined with his. He looked down at their intertwined hands and looked the girl straight in the eyes, and whispered the words you wish he would say to you.
“Let’s go on 3.”
You felt your world shatter. Every emotion and memory you had with Newt seemed to start to melt inside of you, turning into nothing but puddles of black liquid. You watched as he counted to 3 before turning his head towards you and stepping into the silver portal. His eyes. There was something different about them that you just couldn’t figure out, and you knew that you had lost him. Newt was no longer your’s. Paradise wasn’t Paradise. And your life had lost all meaning.
You watched as the other Gladers rushed to get through the Flat Trans. You just stood still and stared, feeling numb and tired. You felt a pair of hands push you.
“Let’s go!” Thomas yelled and you just stared at him, tears in your eyes but not spilling out.
“It’s over Thomas. Game over. I lose.” you said and stepped away from the Flat Trans, making a pathway for Thomas.
“Y/N, whatever Newt did-” Thomas knew that Newt had no more feelings for you.
“It’s what he didn’t do. Go ahead.” you said and pushed him, partially out of anger aimed at Newt.
“Game over.”
Your Bed
*Requested: Y/N has feelings for Newt and tries to tell him but Newt says some things, resulting in hurt feelings and cold attitudes. Based off the song “Your Bed” by All Time Low, lyrics here: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/alltimelow/yourbed.html song here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1uxewDJSzg *
“How do you do that?” you asked with a sigh and threw the vines on the ground, frustrated that you weren’t able to tie them correctly the way Newt had shown you.
“Like this.” he said and tied the vines quickly, for probably the 47th time. You could tell he was getting a little frustrated and you didn’t blame him, but you had never wanted to be a Gardener to begin with. You had been forced into it by Alby because he didn’t think there was another job for you.
“Sorry.” you said and tied the vines, obviously not half as good as Newt’s.
“I’ll just do it, you can go get the fertilizer. Again.” he said and gestured towards the bucket. You grabbed it without a word and walked away.
You had liked Newt from the first day you were sent up to the Glade, but you were never able to impress him. You knew he found you physically attractive. You were the only girl anyways. You always put effort into everything you did, but you still weren’t good enough. You were so close to becoming a Slopper.
At dinner, you sat with the unknown Gladers; you were one of them to be honest. They were the Gladers that no one really knew the names of, and you wanted to change your social status. It seemed ridiculous to be worried about your social status when there was a bigger problem looming; you were stuck in a Maze with a bunch of boys who were dying to get out. You picked at your food before deciding something bold. You were going to tell Newt how you felt; you were stuck in this shuck place anyways, might as well make a move and see how it goes.
“Newt?” you asked, walking up behind him; he had just gotten his food from Frypan and you were shaking and your palms were sweaty.
“Yeah?” he asked obviously confused as to why you were interacting with him.
“Um can I talk to you?” you asked and he looked at his food.
“Sure… Let me go put this down.” he said hesitantly but you let out a breath of relief and watched as he led you outside.
“I just wanted to talk to you about things…” you said, beating around the bushes and not really knowing what to say; you hadn’t really thought about what you wanted to say to him.
“Listen, Y/N, you’re great, look at you; you LOOK great. There’s guys in this place all over you, sometimes I find myself thinking about you. But there’s not a lot that you actually do. I’ve been trying to teach you how to tie vines for about 3 weeks and you still can’t do it right. I’m the only reason why you’re not a Slopper, you need to understand that. I can’t help you if you’re not going to help yourself.” he said and crossed his arms. The way he had said it was so calm and gentle, but the stabbing feeling in your chest was all the same. You pursed your lips and could feel the heat prickling the place behind your eyes.
“Um- I wasn’t- okay.” you said and walked slowly backwards and towards your hut.
You walked into your hut and made your way towards your hammock. You laid down and the tears finally slid down your face, tickling your cheeks. You hated yourself for letting Newt get under your skin and you wondered who he even was. You were soon softly sobbing. There’s not a lot that you actually do. You knew he was right. There really wasn’t a benefit of you being there. But you were trying to help yourself, and you also knew that you couldn’t let him see you like this. You had to act like you were fine. It was going to be hard; how were you going to convince people that you’re okay and you’re held together when you can’t even convince yourself that you’re alright and put together?

He was drunk. Again. And he wanted you. Again. So you gave in. Again. It was the only way he would take you. When his judgement was impaired and he couldn’t think straight.
“Y/N” he slurred your name and you felt a pain shoot through your chest. He led you back to his hut and you were in for a night he would regret tomorrow morning.
You woke up next to him and you looked at his face, still sleeping, and sighed. You knew he didn’t like you sober the way he did when he was drunk. In bed was the only time he wasn’t hurting you. He didn’t say that you were useless, that you couldn’t tie vines right, that you didn’t do much of anything. You felt sad and empty and numb all at once but got up and started putting your clothes on.
“Where are you off to?” he asked and you smiled at him.
“Just doing what I always do.” you said coldly and continued to put your clothes on.
“Don’t leave.” he said quietly and you turned to look at him, shocked.
“What?” you asked and he sat up.
“You’ve been really distant lately.” he said simply and you stared at him in disbelief.
“Since when do you care about how I feel?” you asked and patted your hair to keep it from looking too messy.
“Ever since I saw your face after I told you you couldn’t tie the vines and you don’t do much. I’ve been trying to take back what I said but no matter how many times I bring you here and hope I can make you forget about it and how it hurts I know you haven’t forgotten because even if you’re enjoying yourself with me I can see it in your eyes. You haven’t forgotten.” he said and you just looked at him without saying anything.
“Please, I know I ripped you open and I deserve every bit of pain from you but I can’t spend all my time worrying about you being hurt.” he said and you flinched at the end of his sentence.
“You don’t have to worry about me, I’m fine.” you said coolly and walked out of his hut.
“Wait-” he said and grabbed your arm, spinning you around. You were face to face and chest to chest, and you could feel his hot breath on your face.
“Get away from me.” you said quietly but he didn’t move.
“Please.” he said and you looked straight into his eyes. He meant it. You weren’t the only one hurting.
You nodded, letting his lips touch your’s gently.
Rejections
*Requested: Y/N is insanely attracted to Newt and is open about it, but Newt doesn’t want to offset the balance in the Glade, which causes him to keep rejecting her. When she finally has had enough of his rejections and ignores him to try to move on, he can’t take it and confesses his attraction to her.*
You huffed as you walked away from the Garden. You silently hoped he would call out your name and you would turn around and he would embrace you and tell you how he really felt and you could live happily every after, but Newt wasn’t like that. He kept turning down any advances you made and yet you kept trying.
There was a bonfire that night for the Greenie, who seemed to be already fitting in with the other Gladers.
“Y/N, right?” he asked and you smiled warmly.
“That would be me.” you said and took another sip of Gally’s special recipe drink.
“You’re the only girl?” he asked with a glimmer in his eyes and you knew the look. These boys were filled with hormones and it wasn’t the first time you had seen the lust-filled eyes. Newt was always the one that came in between you and the boy and lectured about the balance and peace and pregnancy and blah blah blah. Newt knew that he was the only one you had eyes for, but he would never admit it. But you knew that secretly he loved the attention and affection you gave him.
You and the Greenbean were talking and even flirting before you heard someone clearing his throat.
“Newt.” you said without even turning around and dropped your flirtatious hand from the Greenie’s shoulder.
“Y/N.” he said and you knew what he was going to say next.
“Y/N is off limits.” there it was. His most repeated line since you had arrived in the Glade.
“That’s only because you’re the only one for me.” you said, turning around and smiling, only half teasing.
“Go have fun, you two, but don’t try anything stupid. We don’t need any mini Y/Ns running around here.” he said and started walking away, and you felt anger bubbling inside of you.
“Do you think I’m that much of a whore?” you said and waited for him to turn around.
“Do you think that just because you won’t admit your feelings for me that I need to compensate by sleeping with every shank in this place?” you heard your voice rising and face getting hot.
“Y/N, drop it.” he said but you wouldn’t let down.
“Tell me you have feelings for me and I’ll stop.” you said, giving him an ultimatum.
“Y/N, bloody stop.” he said like a warning and you laughed, pain evident in your voice.
“Yes sir.” you hissed and walked off towards the Homestead, too upset to carry on your partying for the night.
—-
You woke up the next morning super early and went to see if Frypan was up, and if you could get some extra food out of him. He always had a soft spot for you, so you whistled while walking in towards the kitchen and stopped as soon as you saw a messy head of blond hair. You turned on your heel and walked out, but he had already seen you. You heard him jogging after you and you just kept walking, ignoring him.
“Long day, today.” he said, caution clear in his voice and you felt his eyes staring at your side profile. You didn’t say anything but he wouldn’t give up.
“How do you think those vines we tied yesterday are holding up?” he asked and you just sighed quietly.
“I’m sure they’re fine, sir.” you said and knew that there was an edge to your voice and a sarcasm in the “sir.” You couldn’t help yourself. You were angry and hurt by his actions and words, and didn’t want to keep trying if he really did think it was a bad idea for the two of you to be together in the Glade. You briskly walked away to see how your closest friend, Thomas was doing.
“Hey, shank.” he said and you sat down next to him in his hammock. He shifted and you felt kind of bad because you knew he had always had mixed feelings about you. He had admitted to you before that he liked you more than as a friend, but you had told him that you were into Newt, and Newt only. You had been friends ever since, but there was always a piece of him that was attached to you intimately.
“I say, tonight after you get back from running around in the Maze, we steal some of Gally’s drink and go to the Deadheads and lose it.” you said with a playful smile and Thomas laughed.
“Motivates me to get my day’s work done.” he said and the two of you headed for breakfast.
—-
You were waiting for Thomas to return from the Maze when you saw all the Gladers gathering around the Garden. You walked over, confused and there was a slight panic inside of you, wondering if there was something wrong with Newt. You shouldn’t have cared because he was the one that kept rejecting you, but his cute smile and boyish style drove you insane.
“Y/N?” you heard and saw a small blond head peeking out from the crowd. You walked over and saw Newt standing on top of a bunch of boxes piled up in the midst of vines and leaves.
“…” you didn’t say anything and just watched him, your heart beating.
“You told me you liked me just a month and a half after you got here. I told you I didn’t feel the same way but I did. The moment I first saw you and pulled you out of that bloody box, you’re all I’ve been thinking about. Everyone here knows that you like me and that I keep turning you down for the sake of the peace in the Glade, but you haven’t spoken to me since last night and I know it hasn’t even been 24 hours but I feel myself losing my mind without you. I know it might be too late but since I finally have your attention and I can’t hold it in anymore, I love you. I probably love you more than you love me, and I can’t stand it when you talk to the other boys because I know you’re not mine and they have just as much of a fair chance as I do. I know a bunch of them have made moves on you because we all know you’re banging, and I always shut it down because I’m jealous. I love you and there’s nothing that’s going to stop me from doing what I’m about to do.” with that long speech, he jumped off the boxes and landed perfectly in front of you, grabbing your face and bringing your lips to his. You had waited for this for so long and not only were you wrong about his feelings for you, but you were wrong about the way his lips would feel. They were soft and much thicker than you imagined, and he tasted minty but sweet, and you cherished every second of the moment.
“I love you, you slinthead.” you said and kissed him again, the Gladers woop-ing and hollering.
wow i love the way tbs drinks water
