The Americans (prod. Joe Weisberg & Joel Fields).
This superb 1980s drama continues its strong streak of political storytelling in the context of a seemingly all-American family setting. Its rich themes, referencing identity and security, are sublimely engrossing as it explores the nature of secrets and deception. The FX series’ second season does a remarkable job of creating and executing character development with enough intrigue and emotional drama to keep the viewer captivated at every turn.
