Sonic the Hedgehog (dir. Jeff Fowler).

We definitely need a multi-part investigative series on just how that inexplicably random Olive Garden product placement turned running joke came together and was shoehorned into a video game movie adaptation about a spiky-haired teleporting anthropomorphic blue supersonic alien hedgehog.

A cool cast—cemented by comedian Ben Schwartz’s lively vocal performance as the eponymous speedster and a hammy villain turn by Jim Carrey reminiscent of his earlier ‘90s Ace Ventura days—and some fun action mask a pretty weird movie where an ultra-fast creature spends a lot of his time sitting as a passenger in a truck on a road trip in an otherwise conventional CGI-laden buddy action comedy for kids.
