Saint Maud (dir. Rose Glass).
It’s a deeply unsettling psychological horror drama about voices possessing us to enact violence despite seemingly good intentions. Glass’ inventive script about a troubled young woman’s dark religious dark path turns itself into an extended sense of visceral terror. How the film manifests both spiritual and devilish acts feels truly frightening in very humanistic ways. Saint Maud is messed up in mostly the right ways.
