Deep Water (dir. Adrian Lyne).

There’s a slow, oddly cerebral approach to the erotic psychological thriller starring former real-life lovers, Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas. A kind of pulpy drama about marriage and adultery based on the 1957 Patricia Highsmith novel of the same name, the brooding story of emasculation escalates is patiently packaged in a sultry outer layer. It’s a throwback to an almost forgotten kind of sexy mid-budget adult film about trashy material told with a high-class sheen. We see Affleck constantly being cuckolded as de Armas delights in driving her on-screen husband wild with a simmered jealousy.
