The Bob’s Burgers Movie (dirs. Loren Bouchard & Bernard Derriman).

This extended version of the Fox animated sitcom continues the general family charm of the series. Still, the comforting appeal of Bob’s Burgers is how small and bite-sized it feels so this longer, more ambitious episode of a feature-length movie doesn’t quite entirely feel right or necessary.

Nonetheless, this is another warmly open-hearted yet whip-smart and funny portrait of an American family getting by on their own. Everything is transported from the show without any prior knowledge needed with certain elements heightened including some high stakes for the family business involving a sinkhole and a murder mystery plot involving their small-town’s neighbouring wharf.
