Ticket to Paradise (dir. Ol Parker).

George Clooney and Julia Roberts charm in a good old-fashioned traditional studio rom-com where our leads play a long-divorced couple who can’t stand each other but put aside their bickering for a shared goal to break up their young daughter’s quickie destination wedding before surely rekindling their own dormant romance. Despite adhering closely to most of the usual beats and conventions of the romantic comedy genre, the film just works and is highly entertaining, especially if a vacation comedy starring older movie stars, who both make it look easy, appeals to you.

There are some amusing jabs about clueless American tourists visiting a foreign culture that acknowledge the inherently comical elements of the screwball premise. It also doubles as a feature-length tourism ad for visiting the beautiful-looking Bali. Nonetheless, it’s a hundred minutes of breezy fun. And yes, outtakes play over the end credits.
