Netflix is a Joke Festival’s experimental six-night live late night talk show proved to be a wonderfully bizarre but must-watch television event thanks to its unpredictable, often loose yet offbeat format focused on the absurdities of living in Los Angeles.

Mulaney’s matter-of-fact, straight-ahead delivery of clever one-liners and sophisticated jokes about Hollywood never failed to delight so matter how seemingly random. Explicitly billed as a one-week-only affair never to be replicated again, the novelty and scattershot aspect of the show more than justified itself as the main appeal of the limited series.
