Alan Rickman as Severus Snape
Alan Rickman was a actor of many characters…
notable Rickman roles include Hans Gruber in “Die Hard” and Harry in “Love Actually.”
The role that Rickman played that will forever stick with millions, like myself, is that of Severus Snape, in the “Harry Potter” films. Alan’s portrayal of Snape was pure brilliance…people are not necessarily as we perceive it at first glance.
For many fans, Alan embodied the complex anti-hero in the film
adaptations wizarding books and, in the process,
contributed to the growing numbers of fans who saw Snape as a symbol of
sympathy – and sex.
“If people want to know who I am, it is all in the work.” In fact, one finds some of Snape in Alan’s other roles …
also in Alan himself.
For example, his gestures and his facial expressions…

J.K. Rowling, author of “Harry Potter,” specifically wanted Rickman for the part of Severus Snape…the perfect choice!
There is no one else that could have portrayed a character of such depth
with as much emotion, fervor, and passion as Alan Rickman.
Thanks!!!

…my favorite scenes with Snape…
Alan Rickman brought Snape with the most heartbreaking and complicated backstory to life.
I will remember the dark humor and slow speech you brought to every scene you performed.
Alan Rickman…thank you for being Severus Snape! No other actor will ever be connected to Snape so as you are!
We miss you!
Snape and his sarcasm
Alan Rickman himself said about Severus Snape: “That people in general adore Snape. He is sarcastic, stubborn, etc, etc.
But he is also fascinating. I have a lot of fun impersonating him.“
In fact, Snape has many layers.
He’s sarcastic and scathing and yet has a heart.
He’s strong and yet he’s vulnerable. Snape’s sarcasm and Alan Rickman’s way of playing make him well to a large extent of his fascination.
