Sleep Tips for Traveling

Summer vacation means taking trips with friends and family, and we couldn’t be more excited! But traveling can also majorly disrupt our sleep schedule, especially when jetting off to international destinations. That’s why we’ve rounded up some of our most important sleep tips to stay well-rested during your upcoming summer vacation!

Go into the trip well-rested

In the days leading up to your trip, make sure to prioritize getting a full eight hours of sleep each night. This way, your body will be well-rested and prepared for your upcoming travels.

Limit caffeine and alcohol consumption, and stay hydrated

While it may be tempting to use caffeine as a way to stay awake when you’re tired - especially when entering a new time zone - consume it in moderation to avoid offsetting your sleep schedule too drastically. Caffeine and alcohol can both disrupt our natural sleep patterns. Instead, make sure to stay extra hydrated while traveling.

Move your body - even on vacation!

Exercise is an important component of your body’s internal clock and resulting sleep schedule. This is why, even on vacation, it’s crucial to implement some form of movement into your daily routine. Whether it’s a morning swim or a walk around town, even a light form of exercise will get your blood flowing and prepare your body for sleep.

Pack products that will help you sleep well

When packing for your upcoming trips, it is important to bring along products that will aid in high quality sleep. Sleep attire such as a cozy set of pajamas, silk sleep mask, or a lightweight fringed throw blanket will help you get a restful night’s sleep, leaving you well-rested and rejuvenated for your next day of activity on your vacation.
