Ransom and you set up to the front door of your parent’s house. You had bumped into Ransom at a coffee shop a few months ago, you had knocked into him by accident and spilled his coffee all over his shirt. You had offered to buy him a new cup, to which he accepted. You’ve been together ever since. He had told you about everything, the attempted murder, the prison time, everything. But you could tell that he was genuinely trying to change, and that was all you needed to give him a chance.

“You ready?” you ask Ransom.

“As I’ll ever be,” he sighs in nervousness. You lean forward and ring the doorbell. You and Ransom stand there in silence as you hear the shuffling coming inside the house.

You Mom is the one to answer the door.

“Hi Mom,” you say cheerfully, leaning in for a hug.

“Hi sweety, this must be Ransom I-” she takes a look at Ransom and she visibly tenses.

“Hello Mrs. Y/l/n, it’s nice to meet you,” Ransom extends his hand to your Mother.

She hesitates a minute before she takes his hand in hers, shaking it lightly. You stand outside as your Mother continues to stare at Ransom in shock.

“Are you gonna let us in Mom?” you question, waving a hand in front of her.

“Oh, yes, please come in. It’s freezing out,” she opens the door wider to allow you and Ransom inside.

“Y/f/n! Y/n and her boyfriend are here,” your Mother shouts into the living room.

“Come take a seat in the dining room, your father will be in in a moment,” your mother starts to usher you towards the dining room.

Once you’ve found you seats, your father enters the dining room. You get up to give him a hug.

“Dad, this is Ransom,” you gesture you your boyfriend who is seated behind you. Ransom raised to his feet.

“It’s nice to meet you, Sir,” Ransom extends his hand to your father, but he doesn’t take it.

“Um, alright,” You and Ransom sit back down in your chairs, as your father gives Ransom serious stink eye. You all sit there in uncomfortable silence for a while before your mother awkwardly interrupts it.

“Y/n, would you come help me with something in the kitchen?”

“Ya, sure?” you respond. You get up and had to the kitchen with your mom, leaving Ransom and your father alone. Once you are out of earshot of the boys, your Mother pounces on you. She shoves you into the walk-in pantry, closing the door and blocking its exit.

“What are you doing with that man?” she questions you frantically.

“Mom, he’s my boyfriend-” you are interrupted by you Mother grabbing you by the shoulders,

“He is a murderer, we saw it all of the news,” she whisper shouts at you.

“Mom!” you exclaim. “First, it was attempted, so he never actually killed anyone. And second, he’s changed mom, he’s trying to be better,” you try to reason with her.

“How could a man that sick get better?” she snarls.

“Ok,” you can feel the heat in your cheeks as you push past your mom. “You cannot talk about him like that you barely know him,” you say angrily towards your Mother as you walk back towards the dining room.

As you get closer to the dining room, you can hear what sounds like your father yelling. As you turn the corner into the dining room, you see Ransom caged in on his chair by your father, who is yelling in his face.

“Dad! What the hell are you doing?” you run up behind him and pull in away from Ransom.

“How could you allow someone like this to live with you Y/n?” your father asks, looking deep into your eyes.

“Because he’s changed Dad!” you shout back, walking over to help Ransom up from his seat.

“He’s trying to be better than the man that the news made him out to be, and I thought that you two would be willing to get to know him. But now I’m not so sure,” you say confidently to your parents, with a tinge of disgust in your voice.

“Come on Ransom, let’s go,” you say grabbing his hand and dragging him towards the door. You fling the front door open and slam it shut behind you as loud as you could.

You and Ransom get in the car, and he starts the engine. You slam your fists down on the front dash and groan in disgust.

“Hey,” Ransom places a comforting hand on your back. “Thank you for what you said in there,” he said.

“I’m sorry for how they acted,” you look up at Ransom with tears in your eyes. “I didn’t think they would act like that,” you are hyperventilating.

“Hey hey hey,” he says wrapping his arms around you, pulling you into his chest. “How could you have known?” he asks rhetorically. You silently sob into Ransom’s sweater.

“Hey, how bout we do this,” he lifts your head so he can see your eyes.

“Let’s pick up dinner on the way home, and once we get home we can cuddle under some blankets and stay up late watching all our favorite movies. How does that sound?” he asks.

“Good,” you mumble into his shirt.

“Alright,” he gives you a quick kiss on the top of your head, then when you lift your head from his chest he kisses your lips softly.

“You the best,” you say wiping the tears from your face.

“Anything for you Baby Girl,”
