I absolutely love the Nie Brothers to death. Their dynamic - however strange - is refreshing as compared to some of the other sibling relationships portrayed in fiction. They aren’t buddy buddy like Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian (pre-Yiling Patriarch at least), but they aren’t totally disconnected and hate each other either. Despite their clear differences (I mean L O O K at Daddy Mingjue vs. BB Huaisang) they still clearly love each other and it shows in the weirdest ways. Nie Mingjue just wanted to see his younger brother follow in the family’s footsteps so that he could have a good, successful life and Nie Huaisang went to extensive lengths in order to exact revenge on his older brother’s murderer.
I sincerely wish that they had had more interaction with one another, but the sentiment is still there: they love each other to death.
