We Happy Few now on Early Access but no Linux or Mac

Delve into the happiness-obsessed world of Wellington Wells: We Happy Few is available now on Steam Early Access and GOG.com Games in Development Preview, but sadly not for Linux or Mac, yet.

Set in an dystopian 1960’s English city, We Happy Few is the tale of a group of slightly terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial. To find your way out of Wellington Wells and reconstruct the past, you’ll have to blend in with its citizens, who don’t take kindly to those who don’t abide by their not-so-normal rules.

Early purchasers of We Happy Few will be able to stroll through Wellington Wells, experiencing key mechanics like social conformity and suspicion, Joy intake, crafting, combat, and survival. Over the course of the Early Access, the city will expand and features will be improved, and the playable characters’ full storylines will be added on the final release of the game.

Where is the Linux release?

Linux Game News caught up with the Compulsion Games to see what the status was for the native port, “we’re looking at closer to the full (1.0) launch for the linux version - supporting two platforms (PC and Xbox One) is already quite a challenge in Early Access.” Again, Linux gamers face having to wait for a playable build due to support issues. Needless to say, and we have said this quite a few times, indie developers have a significant challenge supporting all three PC platforms at once. They are typically a small team with only so much man power. Some have learned their lesson, yet most others such as Compulsion Games are gunning for a better final release.

Here’s hoping we see a Linux Beta before the official launch. And do note, no time frame for version 1.0 has been issued, so it’s a wait and see.
