Look, I don’t care if Barry and Iris get together now or in season ten or never. (Well, I do, Westallen 4life.) But please, in the meantime, no matter how much will-they-or-won’t-they drama you put into this show, please please don’t reduce their entire relationship to it....

Let me get this straight…
They didn’t want Iris to investigate Mason’s death, her mentor and friend, because the Reverse Flash might come after her?
That’s bullshit. She in that moment, deserved to know the truth (she deserved to know since the very beginning).
Do they even know Iris? Any of them? I doubt she believed that story. She better not have. It’s was a ridiculous story. She’s smart. Her mentor wouldn’t just take off. He wanted her to look at an important case.
This is when she needs to investigate on her own. But good job boys, you just put her in danger. If they would’ve told her the truth, she could’ve helped them. Instead, they just set her up to be a target of Eobard Thawne.
I just pray she finds out Barry is the Flash by going to STAR Labs. On her own! Screw all of them. She needs to know the truth. Now! Then I cannot wait as she sends her full fury on all of them, especially Barry and her father. I feel like their relationships will forever change because of this.
……
100% done. Iris baby, you deserve so much better. From EVERYONE!
Barry confessed how in love with Iris he’d always been. Their whole life. She was shocked …frozen.
She didn’t say anything, not to be cruel, but because she utterly didn’t know what to say, think or do.
I think she believed she knew everything about her best friend, to find out that she may not know him at all…and now to find out he’s the Flash too. She’s going to be hurt, so hurt.
To get news that changes your life, can knock you off a ladder. She didn’t even get a moment to react before Barry got up and left the house. Then he’s telling her he’s happy for her and Eddie. Still not giving her a chance. It got awkward a yes, but they never talked about it. Then he tells her he no longer has feelings for her and starts dating someone else.
When did Iris ever have a chance to really explain how she was feeling? Poor Iris has been holding these feelings in. She’s having to try to make sense of it on her own. Her best friend is ignore her too. And her dad acts like she’s basically no longer welcome in her own house.
I’m so thrilled that Iris will do some investigating. I want her to find out the truth on her own.
I believe she’ll find out Barry is the Flash next episode and she’ll kiss him too (kiss before she finds out he’s the Flash because when she finds out, I think she’ll be SO hurt and disappointed). But he’ll tell her. Then, he’ll have to undo time and go back and change things. She’ll no longer remember the kiss or the reveal. That’s when I think Iris will go to the lab and figure it out on her own. And then she’ll be even more hurt as more time goes by.
*sigh*
Iris deserves so much more. But she’s amazing and she’ll get down to the bottom of not only finding out the truth about Barry, but about her feelings for him. Feelings that I think have always been there.
But I do believe that like that tid-bit from the article stated, after Iris forgets about the kiss/reveal, Barry won’t forget. I think he’ll be working with Iris a lot more as the Flash and flirt with her as well. I see linda and him being over for sure. And the only way he can show how in love he is for her, will be through the Flash.
I do think she’s realizing slowly her feelings for Barry…but it’ll really start to show through her interactions with the Flash. Because I think the Flash reminds her of Barry in a way. In a way she knows it’s him I think.
One thing is certain, Westallen is about to take over The Flash! And Iris West will actually have a bigger storyline and more screen time. Thank God!
She’s not going anywhere. So please stop hating on such an incredible character! Candice should win an award for how well/natural she plays Iris. It’s amazing.
IRIS WEST IS THE LEADING LADY OF THE FLASH
I was thinking the other day about how Iris from the Flash is similar to Iris in the movie The Holiday. I looked up quotes and was shocked.
First of all, Iris is the lead female character in The Flash comic book. But in adaptation on TV, she’s the damsel and barely has any screen time. She’s known as the best friend of Barry and who he loves. But Iris stands for a lot more than that. Look at this message:
Arthur Abbott: “Iris, in the movies we have leading ladies and we have the best friend. You, I can tell, are a leading lady, but for some reason you are behaving like the best friend.”
Iris: “You’re supposed to be the leading lady in your own life, for God’s sake!”
She is the leading lady but the writers are making her out just to be “the best friend.” This actress is amazing and she and Grant have so much chemistry…but she’s a Lois Lane of The Flash. She has so much flare and spirit. She’s outspoken and brave and not afraid to get the story! Yet, we barely see her. And when we do see her finally battling what her feelings towards Barry mean, everyone thinks she’s ruining Linda and Barry. Ya. Nothing to do with them. All about her and what she’s finally feeling. I could go on and on about that…
Next, loved when she proved herself to Mason. Reminded me of Iris from The Holiday again:
Iris: [to Jasper] “I don’t know, but I think what I’ve got is something slightly resembling… GUMPTION!”
Didn’t Iris say that to Mason after speaking with Dr. Wells? I thought so.
Also. Yes. Barry and Iris have something so incredibly special. They’re endgame. They were in the comics and they should be in series. I think of Barry as an adorable-nerd-genius and often corny sometimes. So when I saw this quote…well I couldn’t help but think of Westallen:
Iris: “I’m looking for corny in my life.”
And last but not least, I’ll lead you with this beautiful quote on love:
Iris: “I’ve found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said "Journeys end in lovers meeting.” What an extraordinary thought. Personally, I have not experienced anything remotely close to that, but I am more than willing to believe Shakespeare had. I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives. It was Shakespeare who also said “love is blind”. ||| Iris West much?? How could she not know he loved her??! Well, love is blind right?|||
“Now that is something I know to be true. For some quite inexplicably, love fades; for others love is simply lost. But then of course love can also be found, even if just for the night. And then, there’s another kind of love: the cruelest kind. The one that almost kills its victims. Its called unrequited love. Of that I am an expert. Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other. But what about the rest of us? What about our stories, those of us who fall in love alone? We are the victims of the one sided affair. We are the cursed of the loved ones. We are the unloved ones, the walking wounded. The handicapped without the advantage of a great parking space!” |||poor Barry…even though it is requited|||
In ending, I believe Iris west is such amazing character. But she is the leading lady with so much gumption and she deserves to be and act amazing. Her storyline really needs to develop! Come on writers! Also, she and Barry’s love defines the show; it defines Barry too. But it gives them both hope and happiness for a better future. And add a little corny because he’s still “the cutest nerd” she knows!
“The idea that Iris now suddenly likes Barry is a mistake!”
Okay Iris doesn’t “suddenly like” Barry. Iris, in my opinion, has always had feelings for Barry. But I don’t think she always knew what they meant. Her father said it wasn’t obvious to her, that didn’t mean she didn’t feel them.
Also, Barry didn’t even let her have the chance to process the feelings. He just told the couple he was happy for them. You can tell how awkward this is for Iris. Her feelings, the ones that have always been beneath the surface, are rising now that she knows how Barry feels. It’s like opening up so many doors you never realized. She’s just trying to process everything but now Barry is acting like it never happened. Like I said, she didn’t even get a chance to tell him how she felt or is feeling… Just saw a tear go down her cheek.
Then when she’s starting to accept there’s something there, Barry meets Linda. He thinks there’s no chance between he and Iris so he goes on to really pursue and make himself feel anything for someone else.
Now please please please don’t believe that Barry “doesn’t have those feelings for Iris anymore.” Barry has loved Iris “before he even knew what the word meant.” Joe and Henry both saw this too. That type of lifetime love, does NOT just disappear. No way. He’s trying to show her he can move on…but he’s lying once again. But that comment hurt Iris in more ways that one because she really thinks he’s over her.
SHE NEVER GOT TO FEEL WHAT SHE WAS FEELINGS OR EVEN UNDERSTAND IT.
But I think her feelings that she’s always felt aren’t disappearing either. It’s a lifetime love as well.
Even with all that anger, does she realize all the things that Barry’s been capable of doing? Is he a little bit off the hook for saving her and the city so many times?
“No, because Iris could’ve helped and been a part of that. It’s still a matter of a person not trusting you enough to tell you the truth, and trying to keep you safe rather than believing that you could help keep your own self safe. Obviously she’s enamored with The Flash. She’s probably been his No. 1 fan since Day 1. It’s hard to come to terms with the fact that this person she’s been following for so long has been right underneath her.”
Yes! Thank God he’s not off the hook. Candice said it ALL. Iris has been there for the Flash since day one. She could’ve helped him so much more and being a part of it was all she wanted. It’s like Barry was so busy keeping her safe, that he didn’t believe in her enough to handle the truth. It’s like a slap in her face. And I’m glad she’s not letting him off that easy.
