That’s a wrap.
Sadly, I’ve decided to finally call it on this 365 project. Why? There are several reasons I decided to start this up on January 1st, 2016. I wanted to
- improve my drawing skills
- experiment with different mediums
- get into the habit of drawing every day
- become comfortable working on personal work outside of school
I decided to close this project this month because I’m actually up to my eyeballs in personal work. I was in a show last week and am participating in another one next week. I have some holiday pieces to finish up. I opened an Etsy store, and I got a part time job within my field. I’m very happy with the way things are going now, but I absolutely can’t fit 365 doodles into my current schedule anymore.
I’m okay with this because almost all the painting/drawing I’m doing at the moment is personal work, and I’m starting to regain the kind of artistic ambition I had before I went to school. I’ve been finding more often than not that for practice, I’d rather spend time doing longer form studies, and practicing rendering and master copies.
Thanks for following me this far, folks! Eleven out of twelve months ain’t bad, eh? I feel like I’ve learned so much along the way. I’ll continue to post in progress work, finished pieces and other art-related stuff over on my other tumblr. I hope that anyone out there thinking about doing this challenge is encouraged to do it! It was so worthwhile, helping me to form solid drawing habits and giving me motivation to improve my art.
