Bartaco’s Seared Swordfish is okay, if a bit heavy handed on tart and sour flavors.

The current #bartacosecret is a lobster salad situation that really won me over with it’s creaminess and buttery avocado, fresh lobster standing out as the star, and excellent greens as a supporting cast. Would nom again for sure.

Taco number 400 (and 401) eaten! I stopped in for my first visit at Bartaco to give their menu a spin.

Both tacos I tried were waitress-recommended and they were kinda polar opposites. The duck was full of sweet, vibrant flavor whereas the fish was decidedly low key and all about clean execution.

Their street corn fritters were also fantastic; I expected something closer to a pakora but they were like little corn-spiked fried cheese balls.

Huge props to Hoang’s Noodle House for massively upgrading their taco game since my last encounter. These fried shrimp tacos were a bit pricy but worth it.

I’ve heard people say that good seafood is supposed to taste like the sea, but never quite got it until this shrimp taco. The shrimp was tender, didn’t have any of that chewiness or firmness most shrimp has, and had this ocean-like smell and taste. There was a bright, sweet jalapeno glaze, and fresh cilantro and cabbage… so good.

Oh, and there was a pretty decent vegetarian taco there as well. :)

Sorry for the dark pics. Last night at Riffamania I ordered some tacos from OMG Tacos via DoorDash.

They were both good. I’m intrigued by the flavor of the OMG Steak but couldn’t put my finger on what exactly brought umami to the party. Will have to try them again!

Had these brisket tacos yesterday at Austin City Taco Co. Lots of confused friends thinking I was actually in Austin when I told them about these. Nope. On University just north of West 7th in FW, where The Grotto used to be.

Honestly if I knew the tacos would be this good if have encouraged The Grotto to close down sooner. Smoky, savory brisket that was tender but still had some tooth to it. Darn good fixins on each. Revolution just needed a bit more brightness.

Bad Spanish Tacos made a hell of a set of tacos for their pop-up tonight at Wild Acre. All were deliciously smoky, well-seasoned, and generously piled on freshly made tortillas.

My favorites were the carnitas and chicken, but the vegetarian option is fantastic as well, and omnivores without constraints should try all four!

Birrieria & Taqueria Cortez is one of two local trucks that sprang up and into popularity recently in Fort Worth. Even just after opening for the day, they quickly gathered a full line of cars waiting for tacos.

They were really, really good. Almost like mini quesadillas, three tacos were pliable and filled with cheese and beef. They were savory, beefy, rich, and creamy from the cheese. I almost didn’t mind the juices and grease spilling out onto my shirt and seatbelt.

Definitely worth a visit, just make sure you have napkins or wet wipes on your visit.
