I stopped in at Velvet Taco to snag their weekly taco and was kinda disappointed. I’m big into basil and pesto sounds great, but the execution was way salty and I couldn’t taste the basil. Glad I have plenty at home in my garden…

I have a lot of regrets, but one of my biggest taco-related ones was not having the tacos from “World Star Chicken and Seafood” before it changed form yet again.
Here are the (admittedly pretty good) chicken tacos from the current iteration, “Bobo Stop”, in the former home of Aymanara Taqueria and other various incarnations in-between. Find it on the corner of Las Vegas Trail and Normandale.
On my outing today I stopped by Snap Kitchen to snag their chicken things tacos to have for dinner.
I jokingly told my friends that I’ve become everything I hate about food critics. You see, Snap has a deal where food that’s on its sell-by date is marked down, and I snagged tacos that were in that predicament. But after mentioning my blog to the cashier, he insisted on swapping them for fresher ones without charging me the difference. I told him he really didn’t have to do that, but he wanted me to have the best possible specimen for tasting.
The verdict? Pretty dang good. The smoky tinga sauce was savory and delicious. The cabbage added some good crunch but not overbearingly so due to being cooked with the taco. The lime wedge added great brightness. I was even impressed by the Paleo tortilla, which reminded me of a corn tortilla in texture but held up better like flour. A bit on the wet and messy side but satisfying and good overall.
Pretty, delicious, need I say more?
Bad Spanish Tacos made a hell of a set of tacos for their pop-up tonight at Wild Acre. All were deliciously smoky, well-seasoned, and generously piled on freshly made tortillas.
My favorites were the carnitas and chicken, but the vegetarian option is fantastic as well, and omnivores without constraints should try all four!
I kept hearing about the Kickin Taco and decided to escape the crowd at the art show and grab dinner.
The menu at Taco Cabana has changed quite a bit since my last visit.
I snagged the queso jalapeno chicken fajita tacos. They’re pretty solid. Likely my new go-to.
The Kickin Taco is good but a bit of a mess.
I overheard that the Kickin Taco is going away Monday and a fish taco will be added. Not sure if just changing it up or #LentenMadness …
You know who’s really killing it with the delivery and pop-up game right now? Bad Spanish Tacos. I can’t open Instagram without seeing them post about a delivery deal or a tag team with a brewery for curbside beer and taco pickup.
This six taco kit was have delivered to the Dave Cave with all the fixings (Baja Blast sold separately) and let me tell you – moist, flavorful chicken with juices for days.
Despite the assembly required, the chicken was fragrant, the red salsa was packed spice, brightness, and earthiness, and everything worked well in every combination.
Sometime in recent memory, Velvet Taco revamped their brunch menu offerings, and I finally got around to trying the new offerings.
But first, that cheese steak taco. Wow! Real cheese steak taste and the mushrooms packed that extra earthy, meaty flavor and texture. Good stuff.
Of the two egg laden tacos, the steak one really spoke to me. I’ve never had a proper steak and egg breakfast but I can see the appeal now. Toss in microgreens and peppers for lightness and vibrance and you’ve got a winner.
Birrieria & Taqueria Cortez is one of two local trucks that sprang up and into popularity recently in Fort Worth. Even just after opening for the day, they quickly gathered a full line of cars waiting for tacos.
They were really, really good. Almost like mini quesadillas, three tacos were pliable and filled with cheese and beef. They were savory, beefy, rich, and creamy from the cheese. I almost didn’t mind the juices and grease spilling out onto my shirt and seatbelt.
Definitely worth a visit, just make sure you have napkins or wet wipes on your visit.
