Belated postings from trips to Anamia’s in Coppell. Decent but standard Tex Mex fare. Not a fan of the fish tacos.

The brisket taco plate at Anamia’s in Coppell has a good sampling of flavors. The taco didn’t stand well on its own, being greasy and having a one-dimensional sauce with flat pepper flavor. The accompanying slaw rounded it out a bit more but overall this lunch was a “meh”.
Taco number 400 (and 401) eaten! I stopped in for my first visit at Bartaco to give their menu a spin.
Both tacos I tried were waitress-recommended and they were kinda polar opposites. The duck was full of sweet, vibrant flavor whereas the fish was decidedly low key and all about clean execution.
Their street corn fritters were also fantastic; I expected something closer to a pakora but they were like little corn-spiked fried cheese balls.
I never intended to be a one trick pony, but one of the most consistently good places my friends like to go is Velvet Taco, so here I am with two new entries from the reliable hipster taco joint.
The grilled salmon wasn’t terribly remarkable, with the slaw dominating the flavor profile.
The gochujang pork packed big umami and rich, earthy flavors, earning it a respectable four starts in my eyes.
I am a believer in “the way of the taco” and when my buddy Joe told me about Los Tacos Way, I was ready to meet some taco Jedi masters or whatever.
Tucked away in a gas station near the East side of the 820 loop, Los Tacos Way slings some adequate but noon-fancy tacos. Overall a solid, filling meal, would definitely have again, but nothing to go out of the way for.
Spent a recent weekend in Austin, and of course I had some tacos while I was there.
Three B’s Tacos is a truck at Sixth and I-35. Their street tacos were pretty generously portioned, which was fair for the price. Flavor was pretty standard. Nothing to scoff at but nothing to write home about either.
Birrieria & Taqueria Cortez is one of two local trucks that sprang up and into popularity recently in Fort Worth. Even just after opening for the day, they quickly gathered a full line of cars waiting for tacos.
They were really, really good. Almost like mini quesadillas, three tacos were pliable and filled with cheese and beef. They were savory, beefy, rich, and creamy from the cheese. I almost didn’t mind the juices and grease spilling out onto my shirt and seatbelt.
Definitely worth a visit, just make sure you have napkins or wet wipes on your visit.
