Tension - A Hartbig fanfic 

“Wake up, Grace!” Mamrie said with a loud voice from the sitting room. “It’s your first day, wouldn’t want you to be late!” Grace had recently moved to LA to live with her best friend, Mamrie Hart, not having a job, Grace searched and searched until she finally landed a job in Forever 21 as a nightworker for stock take!

“Okay MOMrie, I’m coming, I’m coming!” Grace yelled back from the bedroom, a hurried tone in her voice as she quickly put on a pair of jeans and tied her blonde hair up into a disheveled, messy bun. “You ready to go?” she asked Mamrie, who was slumped on the couch. “Yeh kiddo, let’s go!”. It was late in the afternoon when Grace was to start her first shift. They both got into Mamrie’s car and left.

“You excited?” Mamrie asked, looking over to Grace from the drivers seat. “I guess so, I mean, the manager sounded nice of the phone. She kind of had a seductive voice!” Grace giggled to herself, playing the voice over in her head.
“Well I’m sure you’re gonna do great, Grace! You always put all your effort into everything so you’ll be just fine!” said Mamrie, sounding excited on Grace’s behalf.
They pulled up to the door of the Forever 21 and Mamrie over at Grace.
“Good luck girl! Pick you up tomorrow morning?” “Great! See you later Mames.”
Grace got out of the car, walked up to the back entrance of the store and rang the bell.
“Pull the door” a voice said from the receiver, sounding familiar.

“Shit, shit! SHIT!" Grace thought to herself outside the door, panicking to herself, instantly recognising the same, seducing voice from the phone.
”DAMN, that voice! Wait, what? No! I’m straight. Why am I being so stupid? It's just a voice. Come on, Grace! Pull yourself together!“ Awkwardly pulling at the hem on her denim shirt.

Grace patiently stood in the back of the stock room, waiting. Within a few moments, Grace seen a small woman come towards her, wearing black skinny jeans with a white t-shirt and a black waistcoat. Also rocking a floral snapback. This girl was much shorter than Grace, with brown, short hair and piercing blue eyes.
Grace took a deep breath in and extended out her hand…

"Hi, I’m Grace Helbig. It’s my first day here? A slight tremor in her voice from nerves.
"Uh, oh yeah. I’m Hannah Hart.” The brown haired girl said, shaking Grace’s hand. “I’m the manager here and if you do as I say, you’ll be fine.”

“She doesn’t act at all like she did on the phone!” Grace thought to herself. Remembering the enthusiastic girl during their phone call. 
“Oh well, I’ll just roll with it i guess.”

Hannah took Grace round the stock room and explained how to get started on the basics. Once they had finished speaking, Grace excused herself to use the bathroom.
“Wow.” Grace said to herself in the bathroom mirror.
“That girl, like, woah. She is so attractive. She’s cute, obviously intelligent and that speckle in her eye? Oh. My. God.” Grace continued to herself, still in the bathroom mirror.
“Right, Grace, come on. Stop it. Boys, boys…”

Grace left the bathroom, only to come face to face with Hannah. Not knowing that Hannah had been listening. To everything.
“Were you, um, talking to yourself in there?” Hannah questioned, pointing to the bathroom door and knowing fine well that she was.
“What? No! That’s just for crazy people, right?” Grace quickly said in a panic. Looking everywhere in the room, except at Hannah.

“Okay…” Hannah said, putting her hands in her jean pockets and staring at the floor, knowing she was guilty for listening to Grace while she was unaware of it. Grace took a step towards Hannah. Now breathing in her air space. Grace had never felt like this about a girl before. Her stomach churned with butterflies but her skin prickled with excitement. This was something knew to Grace and she found it very exciting. Hannah was her manager, adding extra tension as Grace felt she was over stepping the boundaries, on her first day!

Grace put her lips close to Hannah’s. Feeling her warm breath, so close but so far from a kiss. A new experience. A new adventure.

I hope whoever reads this enjoyed it! This is my first fanfic so if it isn’t up to the standards, I apologise. But I did quite enjoy writing this and there will be more parts if this is well received :-)
