Woaahhhh… Hold the fuck up everyone…

So, yeah, we all know this is Lila Barton, not Kate Bishop, obviously.  But at the same time, that doesn’t stop her from filling Kate Bishop’s role, right?  Like, in Captain Marvel they included Lieutenant Trouble, but instead of being Kit Renner it was Monica Rambeau.  It makes sense, they’re amalgamating things where necessary to fit the tighter storytelling needed for the movies.

So even though this isn’t gonna be Kate Bishop, there’s no reason Lila Barton can’t fill that same role of “Teenage girl who takes up the bow and becomes the new Hawkeye.”  Kate and Clints dynamic in the comics was always a father/daughter thing; Kate’s parents being shit and her needing a surrogate father figure, and Comics Clint who’s perpetually single needing to grow up by having to be responsible for someone was a huge part of what all of that work.  So this just shortcuts a bunch of unnecessary setup by having them already be father and daughter.

Now, ever since Infinity War we all figured Clint lost at least some of his family in the snap.  But, statistically, the odds of all of them going… Not great.  And what the fuck is he doing in Japan?  Why is he, well… doing anything?

So what if Lila survives the snap?  What if she picks up the bow and tries to take on the role that her traumatised and mostly retired father has given up, and sets out to make a world plunged into chaos a little safer?  And now Clint is trying to track his daughter down and keep her safe?

But wait, it gets better.  Because Kate Bishop was a founding member of the Young Avengers.  You know who else was a founding member?  Cassie Lang, Scott’s daughter, who tried to follow in her father’s footsteps after he died (and remember, in the movie Cassie has no reason to think her father wasn’t killed in the snap like so many others).  In Endgame, Cassie has been recast with an older actress, someone well suited to playing a girl in her teens… A girl about the same age as Lila looks in this shot here.

This is some real swing for the fences level wild speculation here, but what if Endgame is setting up the introduction of the Young Avengers to the MCU?
