Like the previous, this newest release is inspired by the first installment of the Harry Potter book series. The 2024 commemorative collection, titled “The Winged Keys,” depicts that heart-pounding scene where Harry, Ron, and Hermione must take on Professor Flitwick’s contribution to protecting the Sorcerer’s Stone. Immortalized in metal, the coins show a broomstick-supported Harry reaching out to grasp one of the enchanted flying keys, his Seeker skills, not for the last time, paying off nicely. The obverse of the coins features an effigy of His Majesty King Charles III.
The Royal Mint produced the collection in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, with product designer Bella Biggs responsible for remastering the illustration. The coins come in a variety of metals and thus range from £12.00 for Brilliant Uncirculated to £1,220.00 for Gold Proof. A £21.00 option features the stylized illustration brought to life in color.
There’s never been a better reason to start a coin collection. Will you be making a magical purchase from the Royal Mint?
Harry Potter and the Lack of Ginny’s Personality
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/4a8DZqQ
Harry Potter and the Lack of Ginny’s Personality
Many readers of the Harry Potter series were shocked when one of the strongest female characters appeared in the film completely robbed of her personality. The films portray Ginny Weasley as simply the sidekick’s little sister or the hero’s girlfriend. Readers, however, know her as much more than that. For those of you who don’t know, here are five things changed about Ginny in the films.
Owning Her Trauma
In the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film adaptation, Harry keeps himself separate from the group out of fear. While film Ginny lets him do so, book Ginny gives Harry the hard truth: “‘[T]hat was a bit stupid of you,’ said Ginny angrily, ‘seeing as how you don’t know anyone but me who’s been possessed by You-Know-Who, and I can tell you how it feels” (OOTP 23).
Female Equality
Ginny, the only daughter of seven children, is often shown to defend herself to her brothers. One such moment missing from the film is when Ginny tells Ron, “[i]f you went out and got a bit of snogging done yourself you wouldn’t mind so much that everyone else does it” (HBP 14). Her reproach to his hypocritical behavior helps to set her as someone who won’t accept chastisement for having a love life.
Dumbledore’s Army
Readers of the books know that the name of the rebel group is actually proposed by Ginny Weasley, who shows her understanding of the political landscape when she says, “[L]et’s make [DA] stand for Dumbledore’s Army because that’s the Ministry’s worst fear, isn’t it?” (OOTP 18).
Supportive Nature
While some parts of Ginny’s character are clear even on screen, her love and support of Harry Potter shines much more clearly for readers than it does it the film. Though Ginny does not want Harry to be out hunting Horcruxes, she isn’t surprised: “I knew you wouldn’t be happy unless you were hunting Voldemort. Maybe that’s why I like you so much” (HBP 30).
Ride or Die
Ginny’s determination and strength aren’t only applied to her relationship with Harry but also her friendships with the other characters in the book. She does not hesitate to stand up for Hermione – “Don’t call her a Mudblood!” (OOTP 23) – when bigotry comes in to play.
With book moments and quotes so powerful, it begs the question of why so much of Ginny’s character was carved out of the films. Was it simply for lack of time? Why not showcase a female character with strength and personality? Do you think that the upcoming television adaptation will incorporate more of the book characteristics or will viewers get more of the same? While we wait to find out, make sure to vote for your favorite book-only moments!
Protecting the Portrayal of Petunia
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3TCXz8B
Protecting the Portrayal of Petunia
Exploring the moments overlooked in the transition from the Harry Potter books to films, one pivotal scene stands out: Petunia’s promise. Aunt Petunia, a character often met with disdain by fans, is portrayed in the movies as cold, distant, and seemingly indifferent to the plight of Harry, whom she begrudgingly cares for. However, the books provide a richer understanding of her character, revealing the complexities behind her actions and delving into her strained relationship with the wizarding world.
Petunia’s greatest act is not just a singular event but a culmination of her character development throughout the series. Book readers will recall the significance of the phrase “REMEMBER MY LAST, PETUNIA” (OOTP 40), which serves as a poignant reminder of Petunia’s involvement in Harry’s life. This phrase alludes to the letter that Albus Dumbledore left with baby Harry when he was placed on the Dursleys’ doorstep, elucidating the ancient magic invoked by Lily’s sacrifice to protect her son. As Lily’s only remaining blood relative, Petunia becomes an unexpected guardian tasked with shielding Harry from the looming threat of Voldemort.
In the books, Petunia’s character is written with shades of resentment, jealousy, and bitterness toward her sister, Lily, who possessed magical abilities that she herself lacked. This jealousy permeates her treatment of Harry, whom she views as a constant reminder of her own inadequacy and the stark contrast between her mundane existence and the magical world she was excluded from. However, amidst her hostility and resentment, there are glimpses of compassion, particularly obvious when readers see the reason behind her accepting Harry into her home.
The omission of Petunia’s complexity from the films diminishes her character to a mere caricature of the archetypal villain: the “evil stepmother.” Movie audiences miss the opportunity to witness the layers of Petunia’s character unfold as they are revealed to readers throughout the series. Despite her flaws and shortcomings, book Petunia’s actions reveal a nuanced portrayal of familial duty, sacrifice, and, ultimately, redemption.
By overlooking Petunia’s character development, her film portrayal falls short of capturing the depth and complexity depicted in the books. It will be interesting to see whether or not, in the upcoming TV adaptation, Petunia will be portrayed with the depth and nuance befitting her character.
“Hogwarts Legacy” Update Announcement: What Does This Mean for Players?

“Hogwarts Legacy” Update Announcement: What Does This Mean for Players?
Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most sought-after games in recent years, with over 22 million copies sold by the end of December 2023 and a retail gross of $1 billion. So it’s not surprising that gamers have been eager for news on any updates or DLCs to enhance the wizarding world experience, and it looks like we may not have to wait long, either.
The game recently made this exciting statement via social media:
As we near the one-year anniversary of Hogwarts Legacy, we wanted to let our community know that the Hogwarts Legacy PlayStation-exclusive content will be available on other platforms later this summer, along with additional updates and features for the game. Stay tuned in the coming months for more details on what’s coming to Hogwarts Legacy this year.
If you have been unable to play the Haunted Hogsmeade quest so far, then you are in for a gripping and tense experience as you explore an abandoned shop that has a dangerous and malevolent past attached to it (and trust us when we say that you will never look at mannequins in the same way).
But even if we were to have several crystal balls and Unfogging the Future by our desks, what the updates will include would still be unclear, and so we must rely on pure speculation to determine what will be featured.
One addition to the game that would be popular is the ability to free-roam with a companion of your choice. According to GamingBible, fans are eager for the developers to reinstate the companion setting after discovering a selection of dismantled files hidden in the game’s settings. Examples of this feature can still be seen with Poppy and Sebastian, leading many to speculate that this could and should be the next update.
Another highly anticipated feature would be a DLC, though it is unlikely that this will happen following an announcement from Hogwarts Legacy director Alan Tew at the IGN Fan Fest last year that there were no plans of releasing a DLC at the time. If one were to be launched, the ability to play Quidditch would be hugely welcome among the community. However, such a spectacular addition could be something that Warner Bros. Games saves for its Quidditch Champions spin-off.
The following months will be an exciting time for Hogwarts Legacy players, so as we wait for further news to break, we will make it our mission to stroke all of the cats, take care of the Nifflers, and continue to learn about the inventor and invention of Floo powder.
Addressing Urgent Reforms in the Wizarding World: A Focus on Goblins and Beyond

Addressing Urgent Reforms in the Wizarding World: A Focus on Goblins and Beyond
In the enchanting world of Harry Potter, a diverse array of magical beings coexist alongside witches and wizards, each contributing to the intricate fabric of wizarding society. Yet, beneath the surface, certain groups face marginalization, prompting a need for comprehensive rights reform. Within this article, we shall shed light on the necessity for such reforms, particularly concerning goblins, and extend its focus to broader issues, including prison reform, the treatment of squibs, and the justice system.
Goblin Rights:
Goblins, renowned for their proficiency in metalwork and banking, play a crucial role in the wizarding economy. However, their rights have long been a contentious issue. A practical rights reform should address concerns such as fair wages, equal job opportunities, and representation within magical governing bodies. Recognizing the invaluable contributions of the goblin community is essential, demanding the respect they rightly deserve.
Prison Reform:
The wizarding world’s prison system, notably Azkaban, has faced scrutiny for its inhumane conditions and lack of due process. A rights reform must prioritize a rehabilitative approach, ensuring prisoners are treated with dignity and provided opportunities for education and personal growth. Reevaluating the use of Dementors as guards is pivotal for establishing a more just and humane system.
Squibs and Inclusivity:
The treatment of squibs, individuals born into magical families without magical abilities, requires immediate attention. A rights reform should strive to eliminate discrimination against squibs, fostering inclusivity within the magical community. Implementing specialized education programs and expanding employment opportunities can empower squibs to lead fulfilling lives without facing social ostracization.
Justice System:
While the current justice system is effective, reforms that prioritize fairness and transparency can enhance its efficacy. Establishing independent bodies to investigate magical crimes, ensuring representation for all accused individuals, and reassessing the application of certain magical punishments are vital steps toward a more just and equitable system.
Navigating the magical world of Harry Potter uncovers the urgency for rights reform to address persistent disparities and injustices. Advocating for the rights of goblins, implementing prison reform, embracing inclusivity for squibs, and refining the justice system collectively contribute to building a more equitable and harmonious magical society. Let us unite in our efforts to ensure that every being in the wizarding world is treated with the respect and dignity they rightfully deserve.
What Readers Learned from “The Other Minister”
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/3wLGlwW
What Readers Learned from “The Other Minister”
One of the many debated and discussed topics among fans of Harry Potter is what parts of the books the movies left out that we missed the most. What did we learn from those moments that the movies didn’t allow us to be privy to? What changes do we wish would have stayed the same? One of those book moments that did not make the cut for the movies is the very first chapter of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, titled “The Other Minister.” Let’s explore seven things readers learned in the chapter that moviegoers missed out on.
In this chapter, readers are introduced to the Muggle Prime Minister, who reflects on his encounters with what he terms the “Other Minister,” otherwise known as the Minister of Magic. He recounts their first meeting when he learned about the existence of the magical community. His recollections span from learning about the existence of Azkaban and its breakouts to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, dragons, and a sphinx. The chapter concludes as the Prime Minister learns from the “Other Minister,” Cornelius Fudge, that the recent disturbances in his community are caused by wizards and that there is now a new “Other Minister.”
Permanent Coughing Correspondence
Located in the far corner of the Prime Minister’s room is a painting depicting a “froglike little man wearing a long silver wig” (HBP 1). This painting, presumably stuck to the wall with a Permanent Sticking Charm, is used to correspond and to arrange and announce meetings between the Muggle Prime Minister and the Minister of Magic.
Rearrangements
Readers discover that the Ministry of Magic has the ability to rearrange the schedule of the Muggle Prime Minister. This is revealed when the portrait informs the Muggle Prime Minister that a phone call will be rearranged for the following night instead.
Networking
The Muggle Prime Minister’s fireplace is connected to the Floo Network, allowing wizards to travel through it. At times, the wizards emerging from the fire are described as doing so in a manner of bouncing, erupting, and materializing.
A Magical Briefing
Upon assuming the position of Prime Minister, the holder of office will soon find themselves unexpectedly meeting with the Minister of Magic, who promptly briefs them on the existence of the wizarding world and its associated elements. As Fudge, the Minister of Magic in this chapter, points out, the Muggle Prime Minister would be hesitant to disclose anything for fear of not being believed.
A Cup of Rodent
The gerbil belonging to the Prime Minister’s niece was in fact once a teacup belonging to him.
Import Notifications
The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures mandates that the Muggle Prime Minister be informed in the event that creatures considered highly dangerous, such as dragons or sphinxes, are imported into the country.
The Truth
The Muggle Prime Minister will, on occasion, become aware of events caused by the wizarding world that affect the Muggle population. These events often appear different or are presented through an altered lens to the Muggle population. Despite knowing the true nature of the events, the Muggle Prime Minister is unable to convey the truth to the public. In one instance, a bridge collapsed, leading the Muggle population to blame their government, when in reality, the collapse occurred as a result of a targeted attack by Dark wizards on Muggles.
With the Harry Potter TV show in the works, one can hope that this enlightening chapter from the book will be included and brought to life on screen. Until then, let’s discuss your favorite moment or piece of information from the chapter. Alternatively, share with us your casting choices for the roles of the Muggle Prime Minister or Herbert Chorley.
How Timothée Chalamet Has Made Regulus Black a Well Loved Character
New Post has been published on https://bit.ly/439KiI0
How Timothée Chalamet Has Made Regulus Black a Well Loved Character
In recent years within the Harry Potter fandom, Regulus Black has made the comeback of all comebacks. His resurgence in fan-edits, fan-films, and fan-fiction is unavoidable and undeniable. Regulus is scarcely mentioned in Harry’s story, but his impact is vital. It was Regulus who discovered the secret of the horcruxes, and it was Regulus who betrayed Voldemort and died alone in that cave. He’s mentioned only briefly by his brother Sirius:
“‘[…]my idiot brother, soft enough to believe [our parents] … that’s him.’ Sirius jabbed a finger at the very bottom of the tree, at the name REGULUS BLACK.” (OoTP)
Regulus was also a Death Eater. Yes, he choses good in the end, but he stayed in the House of Black for much longer than Sirius did, siding with Voldemort’s pureblood ideology. Aside from this, most of what you may see about Regulus on fan pages is headcanon. And most of what you see is Timothée Chalamet.
Sweet Timmy has become almost synonymous with young Reggie Black, so much so that the comments on an instagram photo of Timothée in a pool of water are flooded with comments like ‘get out of the water Regulus!’ – referencing Regulus’ cause of death. Indeed, edits of Regulus on TikTok and Instagram are almost entirely Timothée, mostly using clips of him in Little Woman, Dune, and Call Me By Your Name. This phenomenon has even broken the fourth wall, with Timothée himself confirming to a fan that he’s seen the fan-cast, as well as wearing a Slytherin jumper in an interview for Dune in 2021.
Regulus Black has become an incredibly well-loved character. For someone who has no lines of their own in either book or film, and someone who was explicitly a Death Eater, some may consider this a bizarre development. Others might say… It’s the Timothée effect.
There are two main reasons how Timothée, without lifting a finger, has made Regulus the people’s princess of the Harry Potter fandom. The first is Timothée himself, the second is the films in which he has starred.
Let’s start with Timmy himself. It simply comes down to the fact that people do just love him. He is widely accepted as a sensational actor, one that can bleed tiny nuances of emotion onto the big screen; small flickers of pain, gutting declarations of love, and eviscerating wordless monologues are made vivid and real by this man’s ability. He’s loved by Hollywood as he’s loved by the masses, often heralded as this generation’s highest talent, admired by every director and actor he’s worked with, a name that will bring people to the cinema. Videos with fans show him as a genuine, down-to-earth guy, funny and personable, kind and good-natured.
So when Regulus wears Timothée’s face, it’s easy for fans to adopt these kinds of personalities onto the character. Fan-edits often even use Timothée’s voice, splicing scenes from his films where the lines fit the theme of the edit. Similarly, fan-art often uses Timothée’s likeness as reference, drawing Timothée in Slytherin robes, hanging out with the Marauders, with Sirius at Grimmauld Place. This continues to carve Regulus and Timmy in the same light, merging our opinions of the two together. When one sees a piece of Regulus fanart with Timothée’s face, do they see Regulus or Timothée? Both? It makes sense to argue that, subconsciously, the two have become one. And with the way people love Timothée, this can only mean good things for Regulus.
The specific films Timothée has starred in may also play a part in the love for Regulus Black. It’s mentioned above that editors use clips from films such as Little Woman to create Regulus edits. The value of these films goes a bit deeper than that. The main films used are Little Woman, Dune, Call Me By Your Name, The King, and Beautiful Boy. Each of these movies offer editors and fans something different. Dune and The King offer a serious-looking, rebel-fighter Regulus.
Little Woman and Call Me By Your Name, however, provide content for a different kind of Regulus. A sweet, still innocent, Regulus comes alive through these films. Fans can see him as a character who was once happy, once friendly, once just a boy. Regulus before the curse of the Black family. It’s Beautiful Boy, though, that most adopts the feelings of sympathy, sorrow, and compassion that many feel for Regulus and his story. Clips from that film show him to fans as the forgotten little brother, as the young boy in an abusive household, struggling as the new Black heir when Sirius leaves, conflicted, alone, and hating himself. Those edits are often heart-wrenching. In that context, and with Timothée’s acting, you can’t help but feel for the boy in the edits, and these edits are always of Regulus.
Regulus is a fascinating character with a heart-breaking story. He deserves the kind of attention he’s been receiving of late, and he deserves the empathy and tenderness he’s been afforded. It is not unfounded to argue that Timothée has added to this; his acting ability, the range of characters he’s played, and the general public love for him all come together to cast a certain rose-tinted spotlight onto Regulus. Talented editors and writers do the rest, making Regulus Black a force to be reckoned with.
Helena Bonham Carter Discusses “Harry Potter” TV Reboot and Miriam Margolyes’ Recent “Potter” Comments

Helena Bonham Carter Discusses “Harry Potter” TV Reboot and Miriam Margolyes’ Recent “Potter” Comments
Loved by fans for her portrayal of the evil Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter films, Helena Bonham Carter has discussed her Potter character, and given her thoughts on Miriam Margolyes’ (Professor Sprout) controversial opinion of adult Harry Potter fans.
Discussing whether it is more fun to play a hero or a villain, Bonham Carter believes “you can have fun playing baddies.”
With Bellatrix, I knew I had to have fun because I wanted to make her appeal to children, in a sense, so I made it a sort of arrested development. Somebody who just hadn’t really grown up and was really naughty.
She also confessed that her version of Bellatrix wasn’t taken from the Harry Potter books.
She wasn’t really there on the page — certainly her actions and what she did, but not in description and the childlike aspect. There were lots of ingredients that I just infused in her, basically because I was really bored. I’d just had a child, and this was my only part, and I just threw everything at it.
With the announcement of the Harry Potter TV reboot last year, and the news that writers have begun to pitch their ideas for the TV show, many fans are wondering which actors might be cast to play the franchise’s much-loved characters.
When asked whether she would take on the role of Bellatrix again if she was approached by those developing the show, Bonham Carter wasn’t so sure.
I don’t think they’ll come near me since I’m in the original one, but never say never.
She does, however, think that whoever is cast to play Voldemort’s loyal Death Eater should go in a “completely different direction” to the one she went in with Lestrange, stating that the next actor could consider playing a version of Bellatrix that is closer to the character we meet in the books.
Bonham Carter also briefly spoke about Miriam Margolyes’ recent comments that adult fans of the Potter series should “grow up” and “get over” it because“it’s for children.”
These controversial comments have been met with criticism from Potter fans, and when asked whether she agrees with Margolyes’ opinion that Potter is just for children, Bonham Carter said she doesn’t.
I love that woman, and she’s somebody who has a big inner child. I think however old we are, we’ve got to keep that child alive.
We’re glad to hear that Helena is on the side of the Potter fans in this debate!
Who do you think could be a contender for the recasting of Bellatrix in the Harry Potter TV reboot?
Nine Scenes from the “Goblet of Fire” Movie that Weren’t in the Book

Nine Scenes from the “Goblet of Fire” Movie that Weren’t in the Book
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the turning point where things get darker. The fourth movie was directed by Mike Newell, and you can feel how the vibe of the film is different from the whole series. The cinematography makes the plot even more mysterious than it already is, and just like in the previous parts, this movie has some interesting moments that weren’t in the book. The extra scenes from GoF are not only fun to watch but also give us very important clues for investigating the peculiar case that we have to solve throughout the movie. So, go ahead and check out these nine scenes that weren’t in the fourth book.
1. Mad-Eye Moody fights with lightning.
Alastor knows how to make a good, or in his case, a terrifying first impression. In the book, as he enters the Great Hall, the lightning from the ceiling illuminates his face, leaving the students in shock. In the movie, he shows off his Auror skills by fighting and stopping the lightning. Some fans have developed a theory, according to which, the ceiling represented the negative feelings fake Moody had for his father because the thunder began the moment he looked at Barty Crouch. We can’t tell if it’s true or not, but it sounds fantastic!
2. Karkaroff enters the Great Hall
Okay, who else thought Igor Karkaroff was going to be the main villain of the story when you first read or watched GoF? He looks and acts very suspicious, so no wonder why even Harry and his friends blame Karkaroff for everything. The scene, where he enters the Great Hall in the middle of the night, made us all deduce that he’s the one who put Harry’s name in the Goblet. There are lots of theories now about that weird scene: some people think that it was Barty Crouch Jr. who transformed into Igor, so it’s safer for him in case he got caught. Others reckon that Karkaroff simply wanted to ensure that the Goblet would choose his favorite student, Krum, for the tournament. Sadly, we’ll never know the true meaning behind this scene.
3. Fred and George fight
We see so little of our favorite twins in the movies that every scene with them is extra precious. As the Weasley brothers drink the Ageing Potion, trying to deceive the Goblet, their hair turns white and they get long white beards. In the book, they just laugh with everyone else at their failure, but in the movie, they start fighting (for the first time!), accusing each other of causing the fiasco.
4. Hermione becomes an owl
This is the first time we see Harry and Ron not talking to each other, so it is hard for Hermione to maintain neutrality in the best friends’ feud and hang out with both of them without offending the other. The moment she snaps at Harry, declaring that she’s not an owl, proves that this situation was indeed hard for Hermione as well. Plus it was quite funny, so naturally it became a source for thousands of memes.
5. McGonagall teaches the students how to dance
What we love the most about this movie is how accurately it managed to show the awkwardness and “tragic” problems of teenagers, like having to ask a girl to the ball, talking to your crush, having to wear secondhand clothes, or dancing in front of the whole class. The scene where McGonagall dances with Ron has become an absolute favorite, and we can see why!
6. Myrtle cuddles with Harry
Talking of awkward moments, this was definitely one of them, for both Harry and the audience. This scene was probably meant to show that Myrtle still had a crush on Harry since the second part and that ghosts can also develop feelings and emotions.
7. Harry fights with mermaids
In the book, the second task was far easier for Harry, as the mermaids were way nicer. They simply told Harry that he could save only one person, while in the movie they started attacking Harry, and he had to fight them off.
8. Barty Crouch Junior flicks his tongue
Only the most attentive fans have noticed the major clue that gave away Mad-Eye’s real identity. In the Pensieve, we see that Barty Crouch Junior has a habit of flicking his tongue, something that seems unimportant until another scene, where the fake Mad-Eye flicks his tongue just like Barty used to do. No wonder why his father got suspicious after seeing a familiar facial gesture.
9. Harry finds Barty Crouch’s body
The fake Moody realized that his tongue flick gave him away, so he had to get rid of his father ASAP. As Harry and his friends are wandering in the Forbidden Forest, celebrating Harry’s victory in the Second Task, they find Barty Crouch’s body. In the book, he mysteriously disappears, and we find out about his destiny only in the very end.
Have these moments helped you realize who’s the main villain of Goblet of Fire? Let us know in the comments!

Emma Watson Featured in Prada’s Re-Nylon Campaign, and Renais News
Follow news about former Harry Potter cast members long enough and you’ll come away with an appreciation for the well-rounded individuals they indisputably are. From activism to creating music, and authoring books to cultivating families, our magical favorites have well-established identities beyond the big screen and the characters that put them there. Perhaps the best example of this would be Emma Watson, whose endeavors have put her in the news several times in the past few weeks.
Watson started 2024 by supporting Prada’s newest collection, and the state of the environment by proxy. In a brief video, Watson appeared alongside Benedict Cumberbatch to model Prada’s 2024 Re-Nylon collection merchandise. The outerwear and accessories featured were made of a fabric called Econyl, a nylon yarn created from recycled plastic that, in this case, was sourced from the oceans, fishing nets, and landfills. The collection not only represents the waste removed from the environment to produce it, but one percent of the proceeds also goes to Sea Beyond, an educational program geared towards raising awareness and educating younger generations on how to protect our oceans.
Industry expert Casey Golden lauded the product line for its commitment to sustainability, commenting that the Re-Nylon collection shows consumers and businesses alike that “everyone can cultivate quality with recycled materials and support organizations like Sea Beyond for lasting environmental and educational impact.” And with an endorsement from Emma Watson, who is well-known for her activism and work with the United Nations, Prada certainly sends a powerful message about its values.
When she’s not saving the world, Watson turns her attention to her other pursuits. Renais, the gin brand created by Watson and her brother, Alex, has met with not insignificant success since its launch in 2023. The gin is made from the by-product of wine grapes grown in the Watson family’s vineyard in France, making the business a truly family affair. This week, the brand announced a partnership with British distributor Proof Drinks, expanding the family even further. John Vider, the managing director of Proof Drinks, shared his excitement about the deal.
Renais Gin joining our portfolio marks an exciting chapter for Proof Drinks, presenting a compelling growth opportunity within the super-premium gin market. With the visionary leadership of Emma and Alex Watson, their reach and influence add a unique dynamic that will undoubtedly amplify Renais’ presence here in the UK.

If this news is prompting you to brush up on your mixology skills, Emma Watson has paved the way for you there as well. The star appeared on British Vogue’s YouTube series, the Great British Taste Test, to mix up some classic cocktails. It’s worth noting that, in a move characteristic of both herself and the famously studious Hermione Granger, Watson came prepared with extensive notes and even a few diagrams. Armed with this and some help from her brother, Watson successfully whips up an Espresso Martini, Bramble, Gin Sour, and Vesper Martini.
As a bonus, Watson also teaches the viewers to make her personal drink, the Emma Spritz, which seems to be an amalgam of the Watson family as a whole. “My grandmother Freda used to collect elderflower and make elderflower cordial, so it includes elderflower cordial for my grandma. It’s got my dad’s wine in it, and then it’s got my brother and my gin in it,” Watson explains.
You can see the video below to learn how to make the signature cocktail for yourself.
