On Tommy Kono

Last Week Sunday, Tommy Kono passed away. He was 85 years old. I thought he was going to get to 90. His mind was sharp. I had the pleasure to have met him and work with him as a young weightlifter starting off. I met him almost 5 years ago. My impressions of him was that he was a gentleman, and a humble man. He also had a passion for the sport of Olympic Weightlifting. I’m not sad that he passed away. I’m proud of his accomplishments that he set out to accomplish. He was a great athlete in his heyday. He will be missed in the weightlifting community.
