Train talk

When I upgraded my zone pass at the train station, the black cashier asked me if I be travelin' like dat. I said what? She said it again. I said what? She said SLOWLY if I be travelin' like dat while waving the pass in my face. Suddenly I understood that she meant if I traveled enough to get enough use out of upgrading my pass so I said yes. Then I realized I have a hard time speaking black and that I am a total fraud at pretending to know Ebonics.
