Ain't That a Kick in the Head

Lover of all things vintage! One of Hogan's Heroes (or Hogan's Brigade if you prefer)! Jewish convert, crocheter, knitter, cross stitcher, seamstress, licensed funeral director and embalmer. Yup, that sums it up ;) I live for Turner Classic Movies and pretty much every actor and actress from 1912-1960. Great singers like Lena Horne, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Buddy Holly, Karen Carpenter, Liza Minnelli, Freddie Mercury, Mandy Patinkin and Michael Nesmith. I almost never listen to current music and am happily ignorant to most artists of today. I make exceptions for people who write their own music and are interesting like Alicia Keys, Regina Spektor, Robert Downey Jr. (yup he has a Jazz album) and Eminem. I fell in love with Dean Martin and Robert Downey Jr. when I was 10 so they will always have a special place in my heart. Hogan's Heroes is my all time FAVORITE show! Obsessed with Quentin Tarantino! I love Tolkein, Poe, The Bronte Sisters, etc. You will always find me with my nose in a book. Also big on cartoons (South Park, Futurama, Bob's Burgers, Archer, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Venture Bros...anything on Adult Swim basically) video games and comics. You'll probably find a mix of all that on here:) “It's not the load that breaks you down, it's the way you carry it.” - Lena Horne

Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy as Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham. This one was a doozy! This is my first time cross stitching something so big. Took a little under 2 years between work and life. But I finally finished and am so happy I didn’t give up, although there were times I wanted to. This is one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite episodes from one of my favorite shows!

Seidou Takizawa! My favorite character from Tokyo Ghoul. This one took a really long time to finish due to all the filling. It was great practice but I still have a lot of room for improvement. Unfortunately, with all needle crafts (knitting, crochet, cross stitch) my stitches get smaller and tighter over time. That is something I need to work on. With a space that large, I might fill with paint or marker next time.

However, I’m pretty happy with my Seidou.

Masahiro and Kousuke from Hitorijime My Hero. I learned a little too late that doubling up the fabric would be a good idea. Next time. Im still getting the hang of filling but I am pretty happy with the detail on Masahiro's jewelry.

Embroidery number 3. Kento Nanami from Jujutsu Kaisen. I love this man!!!😍 The fabric was super easy to work with, nice and firm. I definitely noticed a big difference in how I stitched. Not too thrilled with how sheer it is though. I have seen many embroidery artists fill in their work with paints, pencils, crayons, etc and it looks so good! I thought I’d give it a try using watercolor pencils since I’m still very terrible at filling in space. Still have lots of room for improvement but I’m enjoying my embroidery journey.

Embroidery number 2. Yuuri and Victor from the anime Yuri!!! on Ice. This one was such a learning experience. I redid Yuuri’s hair and shirt a couple of times. Although I am not happy with it, I finally had to just leave it alone otherwise the fabric would have been destroyed. Just gotta keep practicing. And I have more Yuri scenes to stitch :)

Baby Stag Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter in crochet form. I haven’t crocheted or knitted something in quite some time due to work so I thought I’d get back into it with some minimal Hannigram plushies. #hannibalnbc #hannigram #fannibal #willgraham #hanniballecter #crochet #crochetersofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/ChBTc6JJL8F/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
