do you ever get attached to like one line or phrase from a song and it holds so much meaning to you but no one else understands how powerful those few words are to you

The X-Files, 2:22: F. Emasculata

  • What is the plot? Well, there is some plot by a pharmaceutical company, that some federal agencies (or cigarette-smoking elements within some federal agencies) might be in on, or they might not be. I'm left very confused by that part. A scientist is collecting insects in a forest in Costa Rica to a soundtrack that portends doom. He gets sprayed with something from a boil on a dead mammal and is found dead with similar boils the next day. A prisoner in Virginia gets a mysterious package and quickly dies in a similar condition. An outbreak spreads rapidly in the prison. Mulder and Scully get involved, but were they set up to fail?
  • What does this episode suggest about Mulder and Scully’s relationship with each other? They go so smoothly from their argument about the correct course of action to making sure that each other is ok.
  • Where are the aliens? they would hopefully know to stay far away from anywhere this contagion is spreading

This was the first episode of the X-Files that I ever watched. It was 1995. My friend Kim was in my language arts class and she and I had bonded over the show Northern Exposure. She kept trying to get me to watch TXF but it was on Fridays and I was usually doing something. Finally I managed to catch it the night this aired. It was gross but also so unlike anything I’d ever seen. I was immediately hooked and an obsession began. 👽 Kim and I spent the rest of the semester writing to each other about the show and not paying attention in class. 🤣🤣
