Sooo, you all remember these beautiful illustrations by cassandra jean, right? Because I'm just thinking about how much I could cry if she draws something like this for thomastair. Just imagine🥺

Also, I'm curious... which fairy tale/classic do you think they'd be associated to?

Thomas: Plane tickets?
James: Concert tickets?
Matthew: Prostitution?

It's the way Herongraystairs' story isn't even a real tragedy by definition - given that Will lived a full life and died at an old age surrounded by his family, and Tessa got to be with both the men she loved at the right time - yet we all collectively do see it as a tragic love story because of how potent and eternal their love is?

Like it feels as if the only worthy outcome for a trio like theirs is for them to live in joy eternally right by each other's side at all moments, so when the happiest mortal outcome happened, it just struck us as "wow, this is so unfair and sad" because their love is just so big

Watch out for this parallel

UNJUSTIFIABLE DEATH, CLOCKWORK PRINCE

“A Tale of Two Cities,” echoed Will. “I read it again, you know, because we had talked about it. You were right. It isn’t silly at all.” [...] “There is too much of despair in it.”
She met his gaze. His eyes were as blue as lakes; she felt as if she were falling into them. “Despair?”
Steadily he said, “There is no future for Sydney, is there, with or without love? He knows he cannot save himself without Lucie, but to let her near him would be to degrade her.
She shook her head. “That is not how I recall it. His sacrifice is noble—”
“It is what is left to him,” said Will. “Do you not recall what he says to Lucie? ‘If it had been possible . . . that you could have returned the love of the man you see before yourself—flung away, wasted, drunken, poor creature of misuse as you know him to be—he would have been conscious this day and hour, in spite of his happiness, that he would bring you to misery, bring you to sorrow and repentance, blight you, disgrace you, pull you down with him—’”

CHAIN OF IRON, JESSE BLACKTHORN

“When I am with you, I imagine that my heart is beating, though it has not beaten for seven years. You give me so much, and I can give you nothing at all.”
“A ghost falling in love with a living girl and pining away in a dusty attic while she lives her life. But I could survive that, Lucie. It would just be a tragedy for me.”
“I think Romeo and Juliet would disagree with you on that.” His voice shook. “And don’t you see? If—if you loved me back, then that is not just a tragedy for one of us; it’s a tragedy for both of us. For there can be no future in it.

*cries*

Symbols of affection 🌼 (part1/2)

I loved the idea of using the flower crown as a symbol of innocence and purity, especially after reading about it twice.. Hope you'll like this parallel (the other part will come right after)

hello readers, have you possibly wondered what the house on curzon street in chain of iron looks like?

well, i went down a rabbit hole last night, so here's some references.

a little background: curzon street is located in mayfair, a "villiage" of london situated between buckingham palace and hyde park; so very, very wealthy. lots of the nobility, as well as wealthy merchants had a "london house" probably in mayfair, so they had servants quarters, multiple bedrooms, libraries, parlors, etc.

mayfair townhouses from the victorian and edwardian eras- i think i recall it being a white house?

woefully only the first 3 levels- a mayfair house likely had a full basement, and then 4+ floors used by the family.

authentic curzon street house! however, this is a smaller property, and the herondale's house by description has a servants quarters, stable, and parlor.

and a bonus, here's a nice neo-edwardian parlor from a modern house.
