Tumblr's not asking for my phone number. It's not going through my contacts to try and connect me with my fucking colleagues. I can come here and talk about whatever I want without anyone ever seeing my face or hearing my voice. I don't have to censor myself and hide my interests or enthusiasm out of fear of consequences it might have in my real life.
I think the biggest misunderstanding they have of Tumblr is that they think of it as a social media platform when in actuality it's a blogging platform with social features.
I like the use of Metroman here because if there's one thing Tumblr users collectively agree on it's that we want everyone to think we're dead

They were on their way back from Dunholm after the city had fallen from the hands of Kjartan. Finan only dreamed of one thing, to be back in Winchester, spend his nights in an alehouse and then sleep in a real bed. But for now, they were travelling and they had a few more days on the road ahead of us.
He was sitting on the shore of a stream, watching as Sihtric was barefoot in the water, collecting stones. He frowned, intrigued by what the young Dane was up to. He shifted to better see what he was doing, Sihtric now crouched above the water and piling the stones in an almost closed circle.
“What are ya doin’?” Finan called out.
Sihtric didn’t even turn around to answer him, too focused on his work. “A fish trap.”
Finan raised an eyebrow and stood up to approach the Dane. Still from the shore, he hovered over Sihtric trying to understand how this was supposed to catch fishes, maybe it was some pagan magic.

i used to work for a nature center and we would constantly have wild owls come and call out to the owls in their cages and try to 1.) get them to follow them or 2.) they were looking for a mate
in the spirit of this post: when you live in areas with wild horses, the number one culprit for horse theft is actually other horses, because the young stallions that get chased out of the herd wanna start their own, and oh, look, look at all those cute mares in just,,,,a fenced off grassy area,,,how easy would it be to lure them over the fence,,,like some four-legged yodeling pied piper,,,
