Been wanting to do this for a while, put all my book children together for a picture. Since the newest book comes out tomorrow, I finally got around to doing it! Some WIPs not pictured (mainly 3 outside of my current series project that have a lot of words in them but are all on pause haha 💀 but my goal is to finish at least one of those this year as well)
To that anon that asked me a while ago if I thought it was worth it to chase this as a career or just focus on a love of writing, my answer is the same. Keep at it if being a published author is what you want. This year I’m making a full time income. Every day, every book, it gets better and I love it!

I know we joke about posts being like "enemies to lovers 100k slowburn" but Im actually reading one right now and they didn't even fucking smile at one another until over 50k in. I'm at around 80k right now and one of them finally cracked and is calling the other by their first name instead of their last. Neither of them are even fucking pining yet. They're not even giving me the satisfaction of that sweet sweet yearning.

Excerpt:
“Fuck off,” Draco growls. He looks like he might be crying, which Harry can forgive because his bones have just been shattered and then vanished. Harry would be crying too. Before Harry can move, not that he was planning on doing so, Draco is dragging himself along the floor again. His wand is between his teeth, and he’s muttering something to himself.
He gets about a foot down the road when Harry starts to follow him.
“Do you need me to carry you?” he asks, sidestepping quickly before Draco can swing for his junk.
“Don’t fucking touch me,” Draco says around his wand. Harry holds up his hands before shoving them into his pockets. He strolls slowly down the road next to his partner, enjoying the spring evening, and pointedly ignoring the scrape and shuffle of Draco dragging his lifeless legs along the floor. It rained today. Lots of nice puddles along the street.
After ten minutes of walking excruciatingly slowly, Harry gets bored. He looks down to a sweaty, angry Draco and takes his own life into his hands. “How about I grab your arms and just drag you along the floor? It might be quicker.”
Sending off the decade with a big damn bang as I look back on the dreams I chased and caught in 2019!
In the last 10 years I: met Mx Mermaid, traveled the world, started a successful business, moved to a new state, rediscovered fandom, met amazing people, married Mx Mermaid, adopted a cat, wrote 784,489 words, participated in 2 zines and countless fests across different fandoms, rekindled a love of art, rekindled a love of reading, dreamed big.
In the last year I: traveled some more, bought my first house, turned 30, adopted a rescue dog, wrote a book, published a book, published some more books, went to a book festival with friends, wrote 248,858 words, and dreamed even bigger for the new year.
Happy New Year, everyone! Thanks for your friendship, your support, your kind words, your silent lurking, your encouragement, your smiles, and your well wishes! Thanks for being part of this with me! Thanks for being you!

2019 Creative Accomplishments
Ahh @aibidil tagged me to play and I’m just now getting around to it haha. Between photo editing and writing I can tell y’all I look every inch the gremlin I am at the moment. Approach with caution and have snacks handy for bribing purposes.
For 2019 there’s a bunch I’m proud of:
Publishing my novel, Matchmaking Beyond the Veil (Paranormal MM romance, drarry vibes, ghosts and magic and mystery)
Publishing in general, this year in addition to my novel I put out 3 novellas and 2 short stories across different romance subgenres.
Getting to write for fanfair and finally tackling a fic idea I’d wanted to do for over 3 years! Gravity Centered (7k, E, Drarry)
Managing 27k of fic alongside my original fiction writing! I wrote in 2 new fandoms this year: Carmen Sandiego (Netflix) and Suits.

Do you make a lot of money from your published work? Is it worth doing for that reason? Or is it better to just concentrate on love of writing and sharing stories with other people?
I think the only way I can really answer your question on whether or not it’s worth it is to ask you if you want to follow a dream or not? Publishing a book was a longtime dream of mine but I didn’t think it was possible until I learned about how far self publishing has come.The key to making money with published work is actually the same concept as fic writing, you want to produce plenty of content and produce it often to grow a fan base of readers. I’ve made a decent amount, not quit-my-day-job good just yet, but it’s heading that way in an upward trajectory. Each of my releases so far have broken even on what I spent on them (covers, editing, promotion, etc) or made profit, so I’ve been lucky enough so far not to have a loss. And I’ve definitely not lost any love of writing, if anything it’s made me love writing even more, and I do still write fanfic.It’s a business and I’m growing it slowly. My goal is to make it earn a comfortable full time living income, but I also do it because I love writing and I want to share it. Before I even pursued my author endeavors I sat down and did my research on self publishing and made a business plan and goals. I recommend anyone interested in publishing their work do the same! There’s a lot of information available and it is definitely overwhelming to take it in. I recommend checking out Craig Martelle’s book on self publishing as well as Chris Fox’s series (Write to Market in particular is really helpful in understanding how to research genre expectations - I also recommend his newsletter). Talking to other authors helps a lot, too! There’s a lot of choices and flexibility when it comes to publishing – self or traditional or hybrid, wide (every store) or exclusive (like amazon only), how you promote your work and connect with your readers, etc.I’m always here for anyone interested in publishing original work if you have questions or need a point in the right direction to get started!
