Adjusting to new beginnings.

She stretched as she woke up. Only yesterday the base had been overrun with scraplets, and she had learned she wasn’t a human named Sarah, but a Cybertronian feabot named Arianna. On top of that, Optimus was her real dad.

She carefully got up from the berth she was laying on. Ratchet not only repaired her wounds from the scraplets, but her wounds from her life as a human. He and Optimus had also returned her to her true size. As she was still quite young, roughly the equivalent of a toddler, she only came up to their knees.

Arianna walked out into the unusually quiet common room, where she spotted Bee. She smiled up at him, which was much easier now. “Morning. How are you feeling?”

Arianna giggled as she fixed her hair. “So, basically a newborn then.” She smiles, then gives her older brother a hug.

“I bet Dad is ancient.” She giggled.

Flying lessons go wrong

Arianna excitedly followed Silverblade through the ground bridge. Today she was going to practice flying. As a fellow flyer, Silverblade was going to her her in case something went wrong.

They reached a clear field, where they had plenty of room, and the ground was soft in case Arianna fell. The young feabot grinned up at her friend, and flapped her wings, lifting her up a few feet into the air.

Not long after she started shootings, the con’s began to return fire. Five of them distracted Silverblade while one attempted to sneak behind her and attempted to make a grab for Arianna.

Luckily Arianna was fast, and managed to dodge the con. She dropped to the ground, and ran away as fast as her smaller frame could carry her.

She smiled up at him. “Thanks Bee.” Arianna hesitated. “What’s a protoform?” She asked her older brother.

Ari needs a break

Arianna sat at her desk in her office at the house. She was currently on her computer, and had multiple stacks of data pads around her. The feabot rubbed her face in frustration. How on Cybertron did her sire, or the previous primes manage? Solving one issue seemed to lead to five more. Arianna had been working all day, and nearly half the night.

She briefly wondered how on Cybertron did those before her manage, until she remembered they had the matrix of leadership. The matrix had been lost when her sire died. Even if it was found, she felt she wasn’t worthy of such an honor.

“I think, after the war ended, many of us feel lost. Many, like myself where born at the beginning of the war, or during it. All we know is times during the war, constantly fighting to survive. Now that it’s over, and we don’t need to fight, a lot of us don’t know what to do anymore.”

Arianna frowned in worry as her love zoned out. She knew this had to be a big change for him. When he laid down, she snuggled close to him, and reached down to pet Zamu. She smiled as the sweet rhino gave her a few licks. When it was time to go to berth, the little one was persistent that the both went to bed.

“Once everything is settled, and the rebuilding is complete, or near complete. We should think about having our own little ones. You would make an amazing sire.” She said, smiling at her mate.

He thought about being a sire for a long time, but wasn’t certain if he wanted to during the war. Now that it’s over, is he willing to commit after the atrocities he’d done? But, he also hoped Arianna wasn’t doing this because she’s the last of her kind. That or how she needed a spark bond to stay alive. It’s a painful reminder of what the war had done, leaving the faes with only one alive. He remembered Optimus and Arianna’s carrier giving them their blessings for bonding, and that day was one of the happiest in his life.

The mech smiled back, pushing aside some of her hair. “Knock Out would say that too, he’d question why I didn’t find a good enough partner. I did have a crush on Airachnid, but we all know how that turned out.” It was not fun dying and then being brought back to life in another universe. “Yeah, I’m used to a lot of siblings, so I’ll be up for anything.” As he petted Zamu, who squirmed himself in between them.

Arianna snuggled closer to her mate as he thought. For a moment, she had forgotten she was the last of her kind. She wanted sparklings because she loved Breakdown and wanted to create a family with him.

“You had a crush on her? Of all femmes? She’s creepy.” Arianna shuddered. “I don’t know about you, but I know I found a good partner. One that I love very much, and with all my spark. It would be an honor to bare your children. However, we should still wait. I’ll be too busy rebuilding Cybertron, and our sparklings deserve our full attention.” Arianna kissed her husband, before settling her helm close to his. She gave the sweet little rhino a few scratches before wrapping her arm around Breakdown.

Arianna grinned up at Bee. She was excited for her new life. Things were looking up, and she finally had a loving family.

She felt bad that her dad and brother never celebrated their birthdays. Arianna looked at her brother in shock. She wasn’t even thinking about herself. “I was asking about you and Dad…I- I never celebrated mine. Never even considered having one.”

Arianna went silent for a moment. “I wish I told you about Ed…and my wings sooner, maybe the day we first met. …..Did we know each other before I was sent to earth? Because that day I first met you, dad, and Ratchet, something was familiar about you guys.”

Arianna watched in awe as Silverblade transformed. It never ceased to amaze her. Arianna was excited for when her own t-cog was developed enough to allow her to transform too. As a feabot, her t-cog isn’t fully developed when she’s born. It takes a few years. Arianna is the equivalent to a two year old human.

Not far from them, a ground bridge opened up. Arianna looked, hoping it was her dad, coming to watch. She yelped in fear, and moved to hide behind Silverblade as Decepticons came out from the portal.

“Thank you.” She said as she took the cube. She looked at the cube. This would be her first time having energon. She hesitantly sipped on it. It tasted ok. She took another sip.

“It’s not your fault. I- I just wish I told someone sooner. Like I told Op- I mean Dad, I was terrified of everyone hating me.” She said before taking another small sip. Calling Optimus dad would take some time to get used to. So would having a loving family.

“Well, what did it look like? Does it have its own kind of plants and nature? What about holidays? Do we have something similar to Christmas? Do we celebrate birthdays?” She bombarded poor Bumblebee. “Also, Op- I mean Dad said that you’re my big brother. I’ve always wanted a sibling!”

<Ah, same old, same old. Can't complain,> he beeped his reply. He had been aware of some of what was going on with her, though he'd be lying if he said he understood much of it. Still, he was aware enough to know that she was probably struggling to adjust to a new normal.

<How are you feeling?> He asked. He wanted to give her the opportunity to vent her feelings if she needed to.

“I’m ok.. physically.” She said. Before rubbing her arm. “It’s- just a lot for me to process. Mad long as i can remember my dad- I mean Ed, constantly kept telling me I was a freak. He made me hide my wings and my streaks.”

Arianna smiled up at Bee. “I’m still having a hard time believing I’m from Cybertron too, and that Optimus is my dad.” She paused in thought. “What’s- home like? Can you teach me to be…my true self?”

A growl coming from her middle reminded her of another question. “What do we eat?” She hadn’t seen the autobots eat, but she knew they must because l she gets hungry, and she’s Cybertronian. With all her questions, she knew she sounded like Miko.
