So, there's a lot of USians around who are very clearly fucking fed up with their political choices this election cycle, and planning to sit it out.

And I get it! What's the point of voting if there's no one to vote for?

The thing is, I'm Australian. In Australia, voting is compulsory. We don't get to sit out our elections, and I'll be real honest with you - we don't exactly get better choices than you lot. So how do you vote if there's no one to vote for? You find someone to vote against. And there's always someone to vote against.

Now, we have the pleasure of preferential voting in Australia - We get to rank every candidate from 1 to X, and I'll tell you, there's something so cathartic about putting the biggest bastard of the lot at the very bottom of your preferences. I understand that USians don't get that option - you get to mark one person, and that's it.

That means that you get one shot, so aim it at the biggest bastard of the lot. The candidate you most utterly detest. Put your vote in the worst possible place for them. Don't even think about who that vote's going towards, that's not the point. Remember, every vote is a vote against someone. Make sure you fuck up that someone's election day!

Do you ever just make a silly little tumblr post that somehow breaks out of containment and now has notes in such high numbers you can't even comprehend it? That's me with this post I made at the beginning of last year's Inktober. I only meant it for my 10-or-so followers & writer friends so I'd know if they're ok with me drawing stuff for their stories and now it's doing the rounds in Tumblr and has *check notes* *screams silently* 18K likes&reblogs (wtf wtf wtf WTF what even is that number?!!)

It has been nice to read all the tags and see that writers *are* super excited and moved by the idea of getting art for their stories.💕

So I suppose I can take this as a sign that I've maybe made some people happy with the art I've drawn inspired by their stories and should continue doing so. ^^

Wanted to say Glaze 2.0 is AMAZING.

What took 30 mins+ before, took me THREE MINUTES last night. WITH my other programs still running.

For folks who tried Glaze but haven't been using it due to glazing time, give 2.0 a chance!

I've heard that other folks have had it taking the same time/longer, but the quality is so much better. Your settings will determine the outcome, but it's definitely a huge improvement over the initial release version.

This comes up over and over again: an outgoing Democrat tries to share deeply important information with their Republican successor, who can't be bothered and couldn't care less. They just want to know how they can abuse their new power to hurt people.

It's such a clear pattern, going back almost 45 years, and it's had disastrous consequences for America and the world.

And yet, here we are, again.

I guess for the sake of true clarity I should note that there are plenty of places where people do technically "have their dicks out" at Pride. That's pretty common in Seattle, where public nudity for non-sexual purposes is totally legal. Every so often at Seattle Pride I'll just turn around and hey, there's a penis, but it's ... just there, being a well-behaved floppy dick. I have yet to see an orgy break out at Pride.

And there are deliberately and specifically nude events in Seattle, as opposed to incidental nudity at Pride, so the fact that no one is clutching their pearls about the nude cyclists at the Fremont Solstice Parade is telling.

It feels impossible sometimes to talk about your experiences as an asexual person without getting lumped in with purity culture because it’s somehow simultaneously true that society hates sex and puts sex everywhere so both people who want to express their sexuality and people who don’t want to participate in it end up having knee-jerk reactions to each other because we’ve all built up defense mechanisms ready to trigger at a moments notice so you try to talk about how sex and romance is everywhere and inescapable and you don’t wanna be involved with it and then people blame you for the kink at pride discourse when you weren’t even thinking about that

I think this is a great point. There are two different things at play here though. ATTRACTION is normalised, the desire to have a wife or a husband and have children is expected, the societal expectation that manifests in grownups talking about how their children have girlfriends and boyfriends when they're still in pre-school, that manifests in teenagers being bullied for being unattractive or uninterested in the opposite (or the same) gender. This is a kind of performance art. You're allowed to talk about partnering up and settling down and having a romantic relationship so long as it's conventional and understandable and this is the thing that I think asexuals and ace-spectrum folks are being hit with, this otherness, this queerness because they don't want or need that and are therefore seen as broken in some way.

What isn't normalised is the actual act of sex, the actual desire for fucking, the need or want to indulge in kinks, the fact that some people are open about their desires and wants and don't feel ashamed. Sex itself is the thing that's taboo, the thing that's not talked about, the thing that can only be engaged in behind closed doors. Queer people and kinksters and people who indulge in sex without guilt or shame are attacked because of THAT.

It's the same prejudice from two different angles and ace people get the brunt of shit from other queers because they're misunderstanding that the people who are attacking both sides are doing it from exactly the same place.

People act like they can’t unionize just because they live in America, or their state is Right to Work, or the company they work for is notoriously anti-union. But labor movements survived periods of being literally mowed down with machine guns by the US Army - so we don’t need to be scared off by a few posters

The fundamental power of a union comes from the fact that we outnumber them, and that the workplace doesn’t move without our labor. That power doesn’t need to be permitted and can’t be legislated away. So join a damn union!
