just a reminder to COMPLETELY boycott Eurovision this year; Azerbaijan and Israel, despite committing genocide, are STILL allowed to compete & have NOT been banned. by refusing to ban both countries, Eurovision is profiting off of the genocide of Palestinians and Armenians.

do not listen to the artists. do not pirate or stream the artists' music, and this applies to ALL the artists who are competing and performing this year. do not listen to the songs on ANY platform, do not give them ANY attention.

write to your broadcasters and tell them you REFUSE to watch the channels until they recognise the Armenian and Palestinian genocides & that you find it disgusting how they are allowing Eurovision despite Azerbaijan and Israel's entries.

do NOT give eurovision OR the competing artists ANYTHING but silence.

boycott ALL of eurovision.

I’ve seen this brought up very little, so let me just add:

Eurovision is sponsored by Moroccan Oil which despite its name is an Israeli company. They’ve been a sponsor for the past few years. This may be one major reason why Eurovision refuses to take a stand against Israel. Boycott Eurovision. Don’t buy Moroccan Oil. There are plenty of other brands that sell hair oils that don’t contribute to genocide.

My preferred hair care brand is As I Am which is both affordable and they fund a number of charities and organizations. The brand was founded by a refugee. I’m not 100% sure what their stance is on Palestine, but for now their products seem like a good alternative to brands like Moroccan Oil.

i’m sure people who are spending £100 on a train journey that will inevitably be delayed or cancelled and £40 on a weekly food shop consisting of 3 items, who are stuck on an NHS waiting lists for years, who are living in tiny, mouldy hellholes that can’t be heated because energy bills are also extortionate, etc. etc. will be exceedingly grateful for this brave and bold move by the government. sooo glad they made this an immediate priority after being decimated in the elections on thursday. (x)

and this is right after the government decided that trans people should be treated in separate rooms in hospital because of course that’s affordable and practical for our totally-not-overstretched health service and it won’t be embarrassing and potentially dangerous for anyone involved

"Here are some details of the incredible angel roof on the nave at Cawston in Norfolk. The roof dates from c. 1460. On the hammerbeams of the roof stand eleven six-foot tall seraphim, still with much of their original colour on them. Some have their hands in prayer, others in adoration. On the east wall of the nave at the same level as the roof, is the shadow in red ochre of the long-lost great rood cross."

so. um. the good news is we found your boyfriend. the bad news is that, well, we sort of…dug him up…in the middle of a car park. in leicester (buckley et al. 2013). leicester, yeah. sorry. they demolished the friary he was hastily interred in when henry viii dissolved all the monasteries. you know how it is. and as it turns out, well, shakespeare was…sort of right about him. scoliosis, yeah, sorry (appleby et al. 2014). if it makes you feel any better we analysed his bones and it turns out he had a pretty high-protein diet before he died (lamb et al. 2014). and he drank so much wine that it changed their chemical composition, which we didn't know could actually happen before we analysed him (lamb et al. 2014), so he was having a good time, at least.

everyone please read this and share if you can.

Brazil is going through one of the worst climatic crisis ever seen.

i live in the southernmost state, Rio Grande do Sul. we have been suffering from extreme, nonstop rainstorms for a week now. the rivers are flooding, reaching 4-6 meters above their natural level. people are being rescued by helicopters, neighborhoods are being evacuated. entire cities are slowly but surely becoming submerged in water. 60 people missing and counting. 32 deaths and counting.

and this is not new. last november also had a flood like this one. 50 dead, many material losses. it happened again this january, with thousands being left without power or water for days.

three catastrophical disasters within less than a year. three disasters only a few months apart.

this is not natural.

unsustainable agricultural practices and politics led to this. a complete disregard for nature led to this. greed led to this. always greed.

when it comes to the climate crisis, i cannot stress this enough: we need to act now if we still want to live. disasters like this are going to happen more often and they're going to be much, much worse. this flood is being considered the worst climatic catastrophe in the history of my state. i don't know how long it will take for another bigger one to happen and take its place. i just know it will be sooner than it should.

The Conservatives are already suffering heavy losses in the council elections. According to the BBC’s tally, they have already lost more than 100 seats. Within the last hour Prof Sir John Curtice, the BBC’s election specialist, told the Today programme that the Conservatives were “basically losing half the seats they’re trying to defend”. He said if that continued, they could end up losing around 500 seats. He said the party seemed to be on course for “one of the worst, if not the worst Conservative performance in local government elections for the last 40 years”. (x)

it’s so bad that one tory minister has said “there’s no such thing as a safe seat any more”. but we should also note that labour’s gains have not been seismic either!
