(This blog maintains a queue rotation of content, so you may find stuff you've already seen across your dash. Newer content is added to the queue rotation as it becomes public. You can get content up to two weeks early by subscribing to my Patreon.)

Greetings, I'm Grey—an autistic, disabled, queer, non-binary (Agender) anarcho-socialist. I also grapple with mental illness. As an autistic person, I often struggle to explain concepts and processes in a casual or non-academic manner. Consequently, my content can come across as insulting or challenging to digest. To assist me in improving, I have started using ChatGPT. I kindly request that you take the time to read my content before forming any conclusions about me. Additionally, I encourage you to engage in conversation with me. This post may expand over time, but let's hope it doesn't become more obnoxious than it already is.

Now, there are certain things I do not support, and I do not want support from:

  • Fascists
  • TERFs
  • Culturally appropriative blogs/content
  • Racists
  • Homophobes
  • Transphobes
  • Xenophobes
  • Ableists
  • Antisemites
  • Zionists
  • Ethno-purists
  • Nationalists
  • Endogenic systems
  • Centrists
  • Capitalists
  • New Age bullshit
  • New Thought
  • Wiccans
  • Ceremonial Magicians
  • General assholery (I will fight you)

It is important to note that I do not align with ceremonial magic, chaos magic, Wicca, or any other formal tradition. My practice is entirely my own, rooted in Curanderismo and Mexica tradition. However, I rarely discuss my own craft, and when I do, it will be explicitly evident.

This blog is a compilation of the knowledge and experiences I have gained, including discussions with practitioners from various traditions. I do not reference magical texts as they are often non-secular and lacking in substance. Therefore, I will not recommend any magical texts to anyone for this reason.

I actively critique any content that may mislead beginners. The goal of my content is to foster critical thinking in approaching witchcraft. With the exception of specified instances, I do not blog about my personal beliefs or practice. Instead, I focus on magical theory. Remember, just because there is no "One True Way" doesn't mean all practices are effective. I incorporate ample links and text in my posts to ensure accessibility.

Please note that I am not a mentor. What you do with my content is entirely up to you. When discussing aspects of a closed culture, I will mark them with an asterisk.

Thank you for taking the time to engage with my content and for being open to discussion.

I really don't have the energy to make a long informational post but Jewish law lays out clear, highly specific laws for how to conduct war against your enemies when you must. This includes everything from always leaving at least one route of escape for the innocent all the way to never destroying any fruit trees. Israel has violated the entire list.

Israel's actions speak for the cruel political and military powers in Isreal and them alone, there is nothing Jewish about their behavior and my heart is breaking for all the people suffering for it.

May Day, celebrated by workers across the globe as International Labor Day, falls on May 1. But you'd be forgiven if that's news to you. While the day traces its origins to an American laborers' fight for a shorter work day, the U.S. does not officially recognize International Labor Day. .... Decades before the 8-hour work-day became the country's norm, the organization now known as the American Federation of Labor set May 1, 1886, as the date that workers nationwide should go on strike to demand the 8-hour workday.

hi! i'm a new witch and don't know much, i hi! Im a new witch and i was gonna research wicca but now im having second thoughts, could you elaborate on why you don't like it or why people should avoid it? i'm genuinely curious, i don't want my practice to accidentally involve somthing bad

Well it depends on the approach. Wicca as a spiritual or religious practice is (mostly) harmless. From this perspective the worst aspect of it is the cultural appropriation. But I would say that all of it is bad. It just contains some unnatural religious syncretism.

That said, as a tradition or practice of witchcraft it is simply put wholly ineffective and downright harmful. As a occult practice, it is pretty much a 1:1 duplication of Crowley- who was not only a piece of shit, but was also batshit. As an occult practice, it relies nearly entirely on correspondences and visualization. Like Crowley’s work, it contains just enough stuff that sounds and feels right (appropriated) that it seems like it could work- but it’s a mashing of metaphysics and magical ideas without any of the important contexts that made the ideas functional. Like Reiki and The Law of Attraction, it’s basically just make believe. I am writing an article about this where I’ll go more in depth and provide sources but I have no timeline for its completion. Maybe this summer.

I wouldnt say Wicca is bad. It’s just ineffective. Magically speaking the worst thing is that publishers like Llewelyn have made Wiccan magic so prominent that finding other practices becomes difficult.

Witch Tip

Dont deny yourself the right to write curses. Down the line they may evolve into excellent healing and protection spells. It’s silly to deny the human and neutral aspects of magic. Sometimes great things come out of the worst of times.

And one day you might actually need that curse. Not because you can turn it into a healing or protection spell but because this curse was designed exactly for the situation you’ve found yourself in.

Curses have their place. They’re not pretty spells created in happy times. They’re the thing you turn to when nothing else has worked or when no other punishment fits the crime that was committed…

So write those curses. You may need them one day.

Types of Witches Masterpost

I’ve seen several of these passed around, but they always feel incomplete. I’ve decided to put together my own version.  I hope this is helpful.

  • Religious WItches - Witches who practice within a religious practice (like Wicca)
  • Secular Witches - Witches who practice outside of a religious practice.
  • Solitary Witches - Witches who practice alone
  • Sonicary Witches  - Witches who only exist as the concept of sound
  • Tweed Witches - Witches who are really into elbow patches
  • Sandwiches - like a good ham and cheese one would be pleasant now.
  • Cranberry Witches - Best served at Thanksgiving
  • Forest Witches - They are in the woods, right now, totally lost
  • Steve Witches - These are witches named Steve. They tend to collect Dreamcast games and are generally okay unless they’ve been drinking.
  • Sea Witches - They work with water
  • C Witches - scpell everytching wcith unecesscary C’s
  • Gray Witches - only wear the color gray.
  • Grey Witches - Like Gray witches, only more pretentious
  • Fae Witches - Witches who work with Fairies
  • Witches Near Fae Witches - just waiting to see if the Fae Witches weren’t careful enough when they made their deals with the Fae.
  • Booze Witches - Do their best witchcraft drunk, or at least that’s what they tell you when they ask you to hold their beer. This is what Steve thinks he is. He isn’t. Steve has a problem.
  • Kitchen Witches - People you should be friends with around thanksgiving
  • Garden Witches - Work with plants, stronger than they look, seriously – don’t try to fight them.  God damn it Steve, leave her alone.
  • Healing Witches - The people you take Steve to after he pisses off the Garden witches.
  • Hedge Witches - These are Witches who work with Hedges.

Did I miss anything?

Enjoy my content but want access to it without need of internet?

I'm compiling all of my free articles into compendiums. Each compendium will have 30-40 articles in it, organized by concept complexity and/or practice difficulty.

Introduction

When a witch (Or other practitioner of magical and mystical forces) casts a spell, what are the chances that the spell will succeed? It’s a trick question, really. Spells can be, and often are, highly dependent on circumstance. Each minute nuance of the given environment, emotional states, physical interactions, outside events, and outside information all play a role in the probability of a spells success. Think of a spell, for sake of understanding, as a force that has a miniscule effect on the likelihood of an event occurring. This can be getting a job, being noticed, not being noticed, drawing money, manipulating street lights, etc. The possibilities are limitless, so long as the laws of physics are considered. This school of thought can also be called the principle of least effort.
