no more single LI books, we have progressed past the need for single LI books

I so disagree.... The one LI book provides with more possibilities focusing on the plot that cannot be focused another way... Like even QB, this book suppose to be 1 LI book it is so visible... BUT because PB new they would get tonnes of hate they added Zoey who is barely there... but she get some time. And a lot of complains that Professor gets more... Like yep as it suppose to be 1 LI book. This why I enjoy playing Chapters books better lately. 1 LI books are so much better and the story flows amazingly.

I agree, some stories are great with options but some just don't work that way and people need to accept that and let these people create great stories without pressure to find a way to make 3+love interests in a story that has a plot that calls for 1

Ethan x MC (Alma)

Alma sat up in her hospital bed, finally feeling well enough to do something other than sleep. It had been a couple of days since the assasination attempt, and constantly sitting around was getting painfully annoying.

The blinds were closed in the room, as well as the curtains to the recovery ward. Everyone was working today, which meant little to no visits. She just wanted to get up to be with everyone, but couldn’t ignore the nagging feeling of exhaustion still creeping up.

After about forty minutes of watching television, the door gently opened. Ethan walked in quietly, secretly loving the way her face lit up as they laid eyes on each other. They were so deeply in love and felt it even more after the past few days crept up.

“Can I leave now?” Alma had her knees pulled up to her chest, but in a childish attempt for some attention, stretched out to grab both of Ethan’s hands for a hug.

“Maybe.” Ethan gently kissed the top of her head, lacing both hands with each of her own. He sat down on the hospital chair nearby, pulling it up close. “How are you?”

“Bored to death.” She admitted, shifting to sit with her legs off the bed where they were facing each other. “Yet I feel like I need to go home and sit in bed for two years.”

“And you will.” Ethan looked up at her, admiring her beautiful features. His heart felt full looking at the love of his life. “Your body needs a long break.”

“Just as long as you’ll stay with me.”

“Anything for you.” He looked up to gently press their lips together. She smiled widely into the kiss, both hands tangling in his hair.

Ethan broke the kiss to stand up and sit by her side. She laid both legs across his lap. They cuddled together in silence for a moment, both reflecting on the past few days. It had gotten scary, but ultimately lead to their affection for each other bubbling at the surface.

Alma had begun to almost doze off until she felt his arm begin to shift. He had reached into a pocket to pull out a small red box. Her heart caught in her throat looking at it, but Ethan seemed calm and collected.

“I ran right to get this after that one night it happened. I know we have a long way to go, but you deserve this as a way for me to say that no matter what, you are the one goal for me. Out of everything in the world, I want to be safe and happily by your side. I promise.”

Alma found herself with tears streaming down both cheeks at this declaration of love. She watched Ethan slip the ring on her finger, a symbol of the future they would have together. Everything had gone so wrong, only to turn out to be so right.

“I love you, Ethan.”

It was nearly dawn, the first rays of sunlight crackling through the pink sky and Boston was still, in quiet reverence of what had just passed. Ethan had one hand on the wheel as they drove back to his apartment, the roads so empty he could stay focused on the precious cargo sitting in the passenger seat of his sedan.

He knew what she was doing. In her position he’d be doing it too. Staring out the window. Watching the world she thought she’d never see again rush past.

Her blithesome humming wasn’t the only thing to catch his attention as she crossed the room to get into bed. After Luz finished with her shower, she had casually slipped on Ethan’s dress shirt, leaving every button undone. The only other material she wore was a pink lace thong—a simple triangle of thin fabric and mostly string. An irresistible combination that left little to the imagination.

The resounding thud of his novel being precariously thrown on his nightstand caught her attention as she reached the bed. Ethan sat on his side of the memory foam mattress with the covers thrown over his legs, and just the right amount of skin exposed to entice her. Their eyes instantly connected, and the heat between them intensified by the penetrating look he gave her through his spectacles.

“Though my shirt looks better on you, I’d prefer it if you took it off.” The gruffness in his voice caused her skin to prickle with bated excitement.
