So, what is the OGL and why are DnD creators thoroughly screwed?

Tumblr has not been doing a great job at talking about this, but:

With OneDnD, Wizards of the Coast has decided to update the Open Game License (OGL). Said license is what allowed people to create homebrew DnD content and sell it, and even larger companies to use certain sorts of content. Pathfinder, for example, is built on said OGL. This also allows streamers and artists to exist and benefit from said content.

With OneDnD (sometimes called “dnd 6e”), WOTC wants to create a much more restrictive OGL, which will, amongst other things:

It’s important to note that OGLs are supposedly irrevocable. They were planning to use it for OneDnD initially, but they want to apply it retroactively to 5e, somehow. Which is illegal, but lawyers have mentioned there’s a chance they may get away with it given the wording.

This means that anything you make based on DnD (A homebrew item? A character drawing? Even music, according to them?), can get taken and used as they deem appropiate.

These news come from a leak of the OGL, which have been confirmed by multiple reputable sources (including Kickstarter, which has confirmed that WOTC already talked with them about this), and was planned to be released next week.

Speak against it. Share the word. Reblog this post. Let people know. Tumblr hasn’t been talking much about this matter, but it’s VERY important to let people know about what is WOTC bringing. 

Boycott them. Do not buy their products. Do not buy games with their IP. Do not watch their movie. CANCEL your DnD Beyond subscription. (Btw, they ARE planning to release more subscription services too!). They do not care about the community, but they care about the money. Make sure to speak through it. 

And maybe consider other TTRPG systems for the time being, Pathfinder’s Paizo has been much nicer to the community, their workers are unionized and are far more healthy overall

Hey everyone! I haven’t used this blog in years, as some of you might have noticed. I got busy, so on and so forth, you understand the gist.

However, WOTC trying to revoke one of the core building blocks that their game (not to mention the livelihoods of my fellow creators on this site) was built on is a serious issue. Please, do not give them any support in light of their errors. I plan to spread this post for the next week, and share some links to free sourcebooks. Anyone who has access to that kind of content, please shoot it my way so i can give it a boost.

Tieflings are capable of having grey skin, orange eyes, black hair and horns of a colour that’s not specified but definitely includes orange. What you do with this infomation is up to you.

Monster Manual Dice Box

So, I started out with this:

It was a little damaged and peeling, and cost me about $5 at Michael’s.

I started out doing a makeshift stain with entirely black watercolour:

It stained the wood in a very natural way and I layered it until it was very dark.

I then sketched out a Beholder in pencil, and proceeded to paint it using white acrylic, and red and black India ink.

The lettering is very messy and I would have rather done it with stencil, but I may redo it one day. For now I’m very satisfied with this!

It was very easy and I’m very happy with it.

Aasimar

So one of my players is playing an Aasimar but since he’s not white he really didn’t like the stareotype that anything that’s divine, holy or blessed are white (as the Aasimar are depicted as). I told him as long as it’s strikingly beautiful and clearly unnatural and has a hint of divinity he can make his Aasimar look however he wants.

Here’s what he decided: bronze skin. Not skin LIKE bronze, ACTUALLY bronze skin. Like a living statue with a slight tarnish to it and a soft glow or sheen to it. His eyes are black void with swirling blue clouds and white flecks like stars and his hair is jet black and curly. We found these two photos as reference

I will be very honest: i think this looks more divine and holy than a glowing alabaster skinned human. It got me thinking: what are some other appearances for Aasimar besides glowing white skin? Here’s some ideas i came up with

1. Skin like angels. Deva: soft green/blue. Planatar: powder blue. Solar: salmon red/orange.

2. Skin like metals. Reflective gold, polished bronze, shiny silver

3. Skin like marble. Marble comes in pretty much any color but always has vains and patterns in other colors

4. Neon eyes. Purple, green, orange, yellow iris

5. Metallic eyes. No whites, just golden orbs, silver spheres, bronze balls set into their skull

The skin is always going to be glowing/reflective and their eyes reflect light unnaturally. Optional: when injured their blood is gold or silver like celestial ichor

Aasimar are touched by the upper planes just like Genasi are touched by the elemental planes and Teiflings are touched by the lower planes. Just as there are many types of Genasi and an infinite type of teifling variants out there there should be more than just pale human to represent the divine mortal children of the celestial. I personally love my players character and together we worked on a backstory and quest for him (which I’m psyched about) so i just had to share the creativity

Use the “if you are bitten by a radioactive creature you gain its powers” idea from spiderman. But the game is set after a nuclear war, so every time a player takes any damage from anything they gain a new power.
